Do we take things for granted??? |

I use to get mad and feel hopeless when things did not go my way. THEN I realized I am lucky I have God/Allah. MORE SO I realize the hopeless are ones who do not know God/Allah. I began to think of the lost. I use to get mad cause my husband was never home (Due to his job) THEN I realized he had a job and how many cannot support their families as they would like to MORE SO I realized many have no husband!!!!!!!!!!! I then began to think of the widows. I use to get mad cause my sons would not visit me as much as I wished they would. (They are married and gone and both with good jobs and they take good care of their wives) THEN I realized How lucky I was to not only have two sons but two wonderful daughter-in-laws MORE SO I realized I had two sons. I then began to think of the childless. I use to get mad cause things didn't go my way as opposed to time and household things THEN I realized atleast I had a home. MORE SO I even had electric and a phone. I then began to think of the homeless. I use to complain about not knowing what to cook for dinner. THEN I realized at least I had food. MORE SO the stove to cook it on and the fridge to keep it fresh. I then began to think of the hungry. How many times do we complain about what our Church/Mosque does or doesn't do? About our spouses? About of families and children and friends? About our jobs? Our homes, Our bills, and more. We all need to remember the lost, the widow, the fatherless, the motherless, the homeless, the hungry, the childless. Salaam, Cara |

Nice post. I feel very, very fortunate for my situation. To live where we do, in security, in good care from the government, in a democracy, with a good job that provides a nice home and food for my family. We have more freedoms than restrictions in Canada and the US, and we should thank God every day for that. There are too many who will never know what we take for granted. |

Salam, Cara :) Thanks for the post, Cara... it is a good reminder, mashaALlah :) Last Saturday, Allah reminded me of smt that I would have usually taken for granted. As some of you may have known, the lights in my room hasn't been working for a few months, and I have been procrastinating to get it fixed. So, it was late at night, and I was going to sleep. Went to my room in darkness, and I bent down to decrease the fan speed. But as soon, as I bent down, thinking there is nothing in front of me, .. *Wham!*, I felt a strong hit in my left eye. Apparently, I didn't see the chair, (it was a dining room chair that I put in my room for my computer), and the edge of the back rest, which is a sharp-blunted-end teak wood went straight into my left eye. ALahmdulilalh, Allah gave me eyelids, and a quick reflex action.. or else.. I think I would've gone blind. My eye went swollen and I slept with ice on it. So.. alhamdulillah.. I was wondering if I did any sins that day.. and how some would have probably been purified, by the pain... dreadful pain. And I'm so glad Allah gave me a reminder... things could've gone worst. No pain, no gain, huh? Wassalam :-) |

Salaams, Sorry to hear that you got a sore eye, but I find this wording of yours..
As some of you may have known, the lights in my room hasn't been working for a few months, and I have been procrastinating to get it fixed.
can usually be cured by marrige, it goes to show that only men can fix lighting or even screw in light bulbs. Surely this is not a task for sisters!. Salaams Hanif |

Anyway, one thing I had taken for granted was my sense of taste!! Subhan Allah last week I had a cold and for 4 or 5 days I couldn't taste at all. I was only eating textures... my appetite went way down. I was SO grateful when I could taste strawberries and chocolate again! Al hamdu lillah. |
