Iwant to let U all know that if for some reason you need help transalating something to or from Sapnish or Portuguese ,I'll will be more than glad to help...eager to talk about current events, living in the US makes you so desperate for a more wordly perspective ,since the main media here is lacking backbone for quite a while...ok,read form u all soon,Inshallah!

As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah,

JazaakAllahu khair for the translation offer, I may have to use it!

Enjoy your stay. Muslims seem to be the most obsessed-with-politics-people ever, no? SubhanAllah.

:)

May Allah strengthen you (and us all) in this deen and rectify our affairs, aameen.

Nice to have you with us. :) I have never met a Hispanic Muslim in real life yet. Inshallah one day i will. In houston we had a show on Hispanic Muslims on the radio done by non-muslim hispanics. Too bad i wasn't able to listen to it.

:)

Are you serious?  There are so many in Houston!

There was a whole issue of Islamic Horizons magazine dedicated to Latino Muslims.  The main feature in it was awesome.  There is also a Latino Muslim sister who wrote an article for the Jumu'ah Magazine a few issues back.  "Mirror Mirror on the Wall."  She's from the Houston area as well.

Thank you all for the welcome, may Allah bless your path!

Mhhh,if the radio station you mention happens to be one of the NPR stations(national public radio)it is possible that they have such show on record online. The NPR stations and Pacifica Radio have most of their programming on the online archives, ask them regarding this....I have seen some hispanics in the masjid I frequent the most, but they are folks at least a generation older than me,and the interaction I have had with them is focused on family issues only.Yes,I guess I'm a bit obssesed with politics, and unlike most people I know,it dates to way before 9/11,what can I say...Inshallah we will have some good interaction going here.

Yo comprede muy muy poquito espanol ...... (It's very rough) .... So I'm sure I could benefit from your lessons or assistance here.
In any case...... Mucho Gusto Hermano..... (you have to let me know if there is a more proper name and give me corrections)... &  mostly, I hope you  enjoy your time here at Madina.

Btw: don't laugh too much...... I tried  ;)

Salaam aleikum!
And the welcoming party still goes on,wow! Thank you!
On the other hand , it seems I will have lots of work ahead on the translating part  :P   Inshallah ,we'll do some progress.
For starters, here's what I got from a quick search :
http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=english/spanish%20dictionary

Now,about the proper form...I don't know if there are any, since I haven't done any interaction with spanish-speaking brothers, except for an Egyptian brother who spoke Spanish learned in what us Mexicans consider the funny spaniard accent .
I noticed most of you live on the east coast,so is probably even harder for you to get the learning going there ,because for most of us who speak spanish is very hard at times to understand people for Puerto Rico, and Cuba to a lesser extent.Their Spanish to us is almost a dialect, and their artists actually have to take proper Spanish classes before embarking on tours of the Latinamerican mainland.
When it comes to culture ,TV and print transaltions, music, etc., Mexico is to Latinamerica what Egypt is to the Arab world, so our Spanish is more or less the most neutral one ,and can be understood pretty much anywhere.I hope this doesn't sound cocky coming from me,but that is what I noticed here and back when I used to travel all over down south.
By the way. Have any of the sisters here ever watched a mexican soap opera?  I used to have for a neighbor this Russian lady who without knowing any Spanish would actually be a fan of those (we call them novelas),nad cry her heart out  so hard I could actually hear her at times! :P
Hasta pronto!
