This post is about my elder brother, Khurram bhai, age 25.5 :) ... well he started

practicing islam [like it should be] 5 or so years back, khurram bhai was always the most

handsome guy in the block, mashAllah :), with his 6'1 height, asian white, innocent face and

all. He mashAllah started practicing islaam really well and when he grew his beard my "da'di

amma" (grand mother) was like "no one will marry his/her daughter to you with this beard of

yours :)"

BUT.... he and his beard are made for each other :) i mean its suits him just fine, he trims

it in shape but never trims it short and the original size of his beard is 2.5 to 3 inches

:) .. any wayz, about that comment of my "da'di amma".. well a couple of years back we had

three proposals for him at the same time, i wish that my "da'di amma" lived to witness that

"three proposals for her bearded grandson at the same time :)" .. well she just said that

coz not many parents like to marry their daughters to bearded guys!! may be the same can be

said about few sisters...

but there is a wave of change around us, if the unislamic trends are growing then there is a

considerable change in the islamic values (in positive sense) of lots of people as well

My brother is very much into dawah as well and Allah used him to guide man boys of my

area.... i mean these kids were not used go to mosque and were somewhat naughty! but now

they regularly go to mosque for their prayers... three of them have grown beards as well :)

and its a big big change coz they were the one who used to shave twice, u know to look

"chikna" etc [pardon my lingo] ...

Khurram bhai is really motivational mashAllah, Allah uses different Muslims to HIS liking, i

mean its not a must that one must be handsome to grow the beard and only then he'll be able

to motivate others, it obviously is not the case. Beard carries lots of thawaab so i think

it should be kept, BUT, i'm not here to ask my brothers to start growing it as i'm just

sharing the positive things that i'm witnessing around me :)

it took me 4 months to start growing mine :) it was a lengthy thought process, well

obviously it takes time but alhamdolilah it suited me just fine, infact a "not bearded"

uncle in my block was admiring Khurram bhai and further added that "bayta infact it suits

everyone :)" it can be translated as [my child the beard suits everyone]

a cyber salute to all the hijaabi/niqaabi siters and bearded brothers :) ..... and all the

respect in the world for those who are not into it right now .......

may Allah help us to do more for the hereafter
ur brother in islaam
Asim Zafar.
