The inexorable rise of fascism

We should not kid ourselves, contrary to what the Orange advert suggests the future is far from bright. Just two days ago we alerted you to the far right’s unholy alliance with zionism and the consequences for Muslims and Arabs if left unchecked. Moreover, that is not the whole story, the BNP are on the move and are looking to capitalise on (perceived) Muslim apathy. At the moment it is only perceived, however, there is a very real danger that this is not misplaced; Muslims are notorious for their indifference and malaise.

The BNP hopes to make inroads in wards across the country in the up-coming local elections. See http://www.anl.org.uk/candidates.htm for details.

If we stand idly by and do not challenge the relentless march against Islam then our children will be the ones to suffer. Make sure that you turn out to your local elections on May 1st, but more importantly VOTE SMART, remember, there is no natural party for Muslims, you need to take all your local councillors to task and ascertain exactly where they stand on issues relevant to the Muslim Ummah. For too long, Muslims have been sidelined and marginalised by mainstream politics, it’s time to make a stand for Islam.

The MAB have stressed that "Over the last year, we’ve demonstrated, we’ve lobbied and we’ve boycotted. It’s now time for the Muslim community to use their vote, to vote out the warmongers and support those who stood for peace and justice." They have launched a website to guide Scottish voters that can be found at www.useyourvote.org, while also have a candidate standing in the Vote 2 Stop the War Party targeting the second vote in Wales (more info at www.vote2stopwar.org).

In Maidenhead, a fiercely contested marginal seat held by the Islamaphobic Theresa May, the secretary of the Maidenhead Islamic Trust goes door-knocking in Maidenhead's Muslim community collecting for the upkeep of its mosque, he also suggests people vote for the Liberal Democrats on 1 May. "I'm sure if everybody [from the Muslim community] votes for one of the parties they will win it," Mr Hussain said. "We are supporting the Liberal Democrats this year. This is the first time."
