Assalamu 'alaikum,

I'll be in Philadelphia for a couple of days for one of my exams InshaAllah, and that'll be either last week of May or first week of June. So, after the exam, of course I'll be partying around a bit (yeah, I don't care if I pass my exam or not :)), and would like to see the mosques around (if there are any), and other than that any other must-see/eat out places  that u guys might wanna suggest me for.

Jazaakumullahu khairan,

Wassalam.

Well there are 40 something masjids in Philly and suburbs.

If you are going to be in center city then there is one big majid, Masjid Jamia  on Walnut and 43rd street. I dont have much info about that except that my husband goes for jummah there :). ALso  there is another one on Walnut street not far from Jamia - may be two blocks, across halal middle eastern restaurant. ALso there is another Pakistani halal restaurant on 43 or 44 not far from Jamia(I ahve to check )  .
The one taht I ahve info about it is called Foundation of Islamic Education. Here is the link  http://www.fiesite.org/   (they have a full time school also (my son's class photo is on the website :) )). They have lots of classes, lectures etc going  there. Every first sunday of month there is lecture/dinner.( ALso ther is going to be fundraiser for the school on June 6 and Sheik Hamza Yousuf is coming ).
You can also check different masjids on www.islamicfinder.com

Salaam,
wow, i'd like to go abroad for an exam, (with a mahram of course) that would be so fun!
Well, I guess, if u knew the details of this exam, I bet, u wouldn't wanna travel abroad for it  :)
but hope you have fun, and hope you also pass your exam inshallah!
Ameen Ameen wa JazaakiAllahu khairan for making the du'a.  A big mistake I did, how could I forget to ask the readers to make du'a for my exam? So, readers, please make du'a for me that I pass this exam.
i'll ask my bro in law for masjids around!!!!  where abouts in philly?
The info. that I have says that the exam center is located in the University City section of Philadelphia, about 7 miles from Philadelphia Intl. Airport. The exact address is this: 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia PA 19104-2685. So, any info. on mosques and restaurants close to this particular address is appreciated.

Yup, u got it, going there for my CSA. Wanna join? :) It'll be nice meeting u. I know I am a boring person, but still not that boring  :). So, did u already take ur exam or still planning on it? Any tips on tackling it?

Now, that's the kind of info. I am looking for. JazaakiAllah khair, let more come, please. I have posted the exact address above. So, I guess, I'll have to fix my exam date  close to 6th June, so maybe I can hear Hamza Yusuf. Any other scholars/Imams u would recommend to see, 'cause my prime interest is seeing the mosques and meeting the imams of those masajid, if I can. But, to check out all those 40 or so mosques, I guess I'll have to make some arrangement to rent a car.

Wassalam.

Your center is not far from Jamia Masjid. Market street then Chestnut Street and then Walnut st are all parallel one after the other. And you will be on 36 street and Jamia is between 43 st and 44. If you dont mind walking then you shouldnt be needing the rental car. But for Foundation for Islamic Ed. you will need car (unless of course you dont mind walking 16-17 miles :) ). I dont have info about hte public transportation but maybe for Foundation which is in Villanova you can get bus or train (If you would have been a sister I would have shown you around myself).

Let me know if you need any other info. There are couple of motels around CSA center and you will find many muslims around that and specially on Walnut street , I think mostly students. And the two restaurants I mentioned are also not far from there.
Good luck with your exam.

Wasalam
