[slm] This one has always been a favorite I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings --Maya Angelou The free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wings in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing The caged bird sings with fearful trill of the things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom The free bird thinks of another breeze and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn and he names the sky his own But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom [wlm] |

[slm] I love this! :-* May All the birds be free! :) Personally I wish they wouldnt catch birds and cut off their wings to make money and make em as pets :( And all the other animals also.... Animals are naturally wild, anyway I hope as Muslims we realize and help free the animals because they desire freedom just as we do. And everything and everyone else who is trapped and has no freedom. May Allah (swt) free them! Jazak Allahu Kair your sister |

[slm] The Beacon -- Unknown -- Lost at sea, we will find our way we boast Our eyes try to pierce a path to the coast All around us no land is to be seen The wind howls about us cold & keen We counsel each other which way is best All our ideas fail when put to the test We turn to the stars shining overhead Hoping fervently by them to be lead We beseech the sun, star of stars, for aid But nothing from its fierce fire can be made Losing all hope we sink into despair Our souls & our hearts completely laid bare Into our misery descends a light Guiding us home by Allah's Mercy & Might -- Insha Allah -- -- La Ilaha Illa Allah -- [wlm] |

[slm] That’s really nice, I’m happy you enjoyed it… Subhan Allah… Actually I’m sorry that I’m not sure where these two came from… a lot of the poems I have, I’ve found while browsing the internet or had delivered to my e-mail box & printed them off. I keep them in a notebook (kind of a personal inspiration notebook)… Some of the poems I’ve written down from books I have read over time… I’ve just shared themes that come to mind while I’m enjoying the Madina… all these that I’ve marked as unknown were unknown authors though… Definitely please enjoy them any way that’s best… that was all my intension in sharing them here… Insha Allah Just a note so you know too, the footnotes I’ve placed on them ( --Insha Allah-- -- Allahu Akbar-- -- etc --) those are usually my additions. I’m not poetic myself but I keep hoping we’ll see more writings from those here @ Madina who are… I hope we’ll find more of yours when you feel inspired too… Insha Allah. Thank-you Sister Jazak Allahu Khairan [wlm] |
