| As salaamu alaikum, In addition to kicking off our membership drive for 2003, and beginning our candidate search for new board appointees and program directors, we have initiated the planning stage for presentation of "excellence in achievement" (EIA) community service awards in five specific categories of service: Community Service Entrepreneurship Film and Media Islamic Education and Daw'ah One final special award category is being developed specifically for a woman nominated in recognition of dedicated, self-sacrifice in the service of others. We are looking for an appropriate title for this award, preferrably named after a muslimah who dedicated her life to the service of others. Nominees should include but are not limited to muslimahs, and may include those that gave exemplary service in support of the muslim community (muslim or non-muslim). A good example of a non-muslim who provided exemplary service in support of the muslim community would be a rights advocate or activist (like the late Rachael Corrie). We will compile the list of EIA nominees over the next few months from a series of sources. Send your input and suggestions to namw-ceo@ummah.org and check the board for updates.
