I don't have any barbie dolls.  I don't think I had many dolls when I was younger, I had more teddy bears.

I have about 5-6 jilbaabs and alhumdulilah my hijaabs are increasing in number.  I always have problems finding hijaabs that I like, or  just finding a place that sells them, or even still, having money on me to buy them!!  I really wish to have more jilbaabs so I can insha'Allaah wear them more.  I've recently found loads of material, and so now I have to wait until I have the money, and until I find someone who is willing to make them for me!!  My major problem when it comes to jilbaabs is that nobody makes them how I want them.  They usually make them so big that I'm drowning in them!! Which is good in one sense, but then I just look really weird and feel uncomfortable/self-conscious.  So I end up wearing them when I pray, and I don't really wear them when I go out.  At the moment I have found someone who has taken note of how I want my jilbaab to be designed, etc, so am really hoping that she'll make it right without me looking funny in it, which is what usually happens!

everytime i go to a store to buy jibaab i don't find my size...all of them are toooooooooo big   :(  :(

Man, I've always disliked dolls in general. I owned NONE as a kid too.
But Barbie is the most annoying to me. sorry, no offense.  Could explain why I can't stand Britney Spears either. heh heh heh heh Oh and that song by AQua called 'Im a barbie girl' did not help either.
I was a Residents Advisor in the dorm at Uni and I had a 'barbie looking' female residentl who over played that song, LOUDLY, REPEATEDLY, which did not help either.
Ok I do sound psychotic now but Barbie just bugs me. Sheesh!!! WIth the exception of this one thing [maybe a few others too] ,I am pretty well adjusted for a girl who spent her childhood climbing trees, playing cricket with the boys and collecting noisy machine guns.
ok let me get outa here before u guys shoo me out.
Cheers!!! [] [] []

I saw Rameeza, the hijabi barbi -- and wanted to buy her entire collection!

I've only ever been able to find one jillbab that fits me properly -- the second I spotted it, I scooped it up...and paid the crazy Canadian-inflated price!

IMuslim_4Ever...if you're looking to be fitted properly, try to find a jillbab that fits you length-wise (ie: if you're 5'4, find one that's 5'3).  I've found that the shorter the jillbab is, the less likely it will end up looking like a tent ;)  Then again, I don't know why fashion designers think that all women are 6'12!!!!  Boggles my mind at how large most jillbabs are.  Of course, it depend of what time of the year you go shopping for these things.  Right before and after 'Eid, everything good seems to dissapear before I get there ;)

The best way to go is probably to find someone who sews...or take up sewing yourself  :-/

Peace,

I had a whole barbie collection growing up!!! But I have 2 sisters so we shared all.  We had the barbie dream house, the corvette... and many dolls.  I remember we had 1 ken doll but since we wanted more boys we just cut the hair really short on some of the barbies.   My mom gave all the stuff away recently to a friend of hers.

I don't own any jilbabs. I like abayas.  I have only 4 right now and I don't wear them all the time.  I want more but they are expensive ($45 to $100 a pop)!!  Inshallah when I move to Dubai I will start designing my own and having them made since they have tailors everywhere.  I love designing clothes and I think it would be fun to design Islamic fashion. However, I can only sew throw pillows.   Well, of course, when my fiancee gets a job he is going to start buying and sending me abayas from Dubai.  It is going to take a bit for me to get used to them especially in the summer.  I get hot way too easy and I think its too hot when it is 70 degrees!! But, then again, I would just be able to wear whatever I want and then throw an abaya over it when I go out.

Yes!!! It is sooo hard to find long enough shirts!!  It gets frustrating sometimes especially since there are no Islamic clothing stores here in Colorado!!  That would be sooo fun to start a business!!  Hmmm... I'm not familiar with Paki clothes whatsoever...  but I imagine it would be mostly shalwar khamiz?

I have several barbies!  And I am 48!  My husband just got me a new one last Nov or Dec.  Mine are all collector Series and I keep them in the boxes.  My mother who is 70 has 2 whole shelves of barbies still in the boxes.  ;)

I don't have a lot of Islamic clothing.  I am relatively new to Islam.  The main reason though is that Nothing premade is long enough for me, except for the skirts.  I get a super huge one and take it in or make my own.  My favorite garment to wear to to the masjid is a long sleeved full caftan.  They are sooooooooooo comfortable.   :-)

hey silverose and Ameera, if u 2 do start up a business, let me know.  I have loads of ideas on how to design jilbaabs, but unfortunately I can't sew or anything (I love stuff that kinda looks like it belongs in lord of the rings and other such fantasy realms/ eras!).

I would love to have my own tailor who I could sit down with and explain everything to about how I want my stuff made.  Ah that would be a dream  8)

For real! Ive noticed Vanity has cute long shirts tho. Learner NY also does but Learner is one that supports Israel:(
ok kewl! looks like we got one more person. thats an odd number so thats good :)

yes there are kinds of shalwar kameez..nowa days they have the pant style. Besides shalwar kameez there are langas and gararas.
But really I think I should do something that s gonna give me a better ending in the hereafter such as long shirts :)

LOOOOOOOOL  so, all three of us have ideas and all three of us don't know how to sew???  Oh no LOL.
Inshallah we could learn.... I must say though... I tried to learn before and I am so clumsy it wasn't too successful...  But, that was a long time ago.
