eating with utensils

I just thought of this but, I am left-handed and I have gotten used to doing certain things with my right hand---- one of them when I eat with my hands I will use the right...

Now, when I use utensils to eat do I also have to use my right hand?  Or is it ok since my hand itself is not touching the food.

Sallam A

sister, if I lectured you about the benefits of usage and the baraka of the "right hand" I would look like a moron in front of your own wisdom....

I am in a similar situation and what I have asked and found out from the "learned" ones is that to initiate the food with the right hand and without the silverware at least three to 5 morsels, and then for the sake of Allah asking forgiveness use what ever means to consume  food.

The left hand , if it was such a negative thing such as its is makrooh meaning ,un liked, for consuming food, then why do we do zikr of tasbeeh on the finger tips of the left hand! After all the name of Allah is the most exhalted as compared to the entire food chain, but still after salat we are recommended to count the names of Allah on our fingers and the natural finger bends of both hands....

Do u see the logic here...

Inshallah Allah is most merifull and in special cases like us I am sure we will be "hisaban yaseera", inshallah, hopingly, but during our life times we can try as much as we can..

I cant eat rice with hand, due to the untrained nature, but I always take a few morsels first with hand no matter how hard it is but then I retort to a big spoon, lol...whcih sometimes is looked upon by guests in social gathering but then being a "yankee" I am forgiven...

Inshallah I am sure there wont be any guilt....

i dont think I have any proof right now, but I will still try my best to find, but I very clearly remember that this is how I was tought, and this shouldnt be taken as a proof but I belive that the ulema of Jamia Azhar will not teach me something which was not substantiated....

but I have to look for some kind of proof for the satisfaction now and I will....

I also remeber that I have seen hundreds of imams do the tasbeeh on both hands....

yet this is not a proof of the documented one but thinking at this hour thats all I can find in my memory to justify this...

What else can I say.....

okz!

here is something....

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen (al-Liqa' al-Maftooh, 3/30) was asked whether using the masbahah for tasbeeh is bid'ah, and his reply was: "It is better not to do tasbeeh with the masbahah, but it is not bid'ah, because there is a basis for it, which is the fact that some of the Sahaabah did tasbeeh with pebbles. But the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allâh be upon him) taught that tasbeeh with the fingers is better, as he said, 'Count with the fingertips, for they will be made to speak.' Doing tasbeeh with the masbahah is not haraam or bid'ah, but it is better not to do it, because the one who does tasbeeh with the masbahah has shunned something better. Using the masbahah may also be contaminated with some element of showing off, because we see some people carrying masbahahs that contain a thousand beads, as if they are telling people, 'Look at me, I do a thousand tasbeehs!' Secondly, those who use the masbahah for tasbeeh are usually absent-minded and not focused, so you see them doing tasbeeh with the beads, but their gaze is wandering all over the place, which indicates that they are not really concentrating. It is better to do tasbeeh with one's fingers, preferably using the right hand rather than the left, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allâh be upon him) used to count his tasbeeh on his right hand. If a person counts his tasbeeh using both hands, there is nothing wrong with that, but it is better to use the right hand only."

I use both hands!

hence I hope if this is enough for the proof..
