Cars, now here's a nice manly topic.  :)

Here's the type of cars I picture people driving:

Bulwark of Islam -  A Jeep to go along with the jeep-tire shoes he had while growing up. ;)  Plus the jeep will enable him to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of Karachi. :P
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10540

Kathy - The mamma mobile, a ford windstar:
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10425

Eleanor - Volkswagon Passat.  A generation-x car, that is German engineered.
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10466

Mystic, TheOriginal, Sarahpasarah -  A VW Bug.  Its for people that like to use a lot of smiley faces in their posts.  :)
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10492

Panjul - A Honda accord (that has a few dents from the trashcans she hit while learning to drive).  Abu Hamza - He would probably drive one as well because its a good reliable car and many desis have one or a Toyota Camry.
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10588

Madina Wrestler  and Bhaloo - A Hummer (H2).  This car says I'm big, bad, get out of my way.
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10385

Asim - I imagine the doctor gets around campus in a Toyota Corolla, quite popular in Pakistan.  I think Nomi would as well.
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10328

Mr.Bean - I would imagine a British car, perhaps the mini-Cooper (not to be confused with mini-ME).
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10641

LIghtningatnite - a Black convertible mustang.  he enjoyed it when he drove along the southern california coast.
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10404&src=vip

Abu Atheek -  Mercedes Benz S class.
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10683

Al-Basha - a honda crv. :)
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10681

Strivinsista - the canadian bus system

Jannah and Se7en  The dynamic duo get around in the Moo-mobile. ;)
Many designs and styles are located here:

hahahahahaha...

You came close.  I would have gotten a bug except I would hate to be perceived in the way..well..in the way you perceive me....plus I hate two-doors.  I drive a Jetta, at least what's left of it since my last accident.  Did I mention I'm a really bad driver?  But honestly I'm getting better...I just need someone in the passenger seat checking my blindspots.

When I grow up I wanna be....driving an.... M5.  Yeah!  A beemer!

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah
[This entire msg is a side-comment]

Blind spots, I’m glad this was brought up, I’ve been meaning to send an email to everyone I know about this.

I was just reading my car insurance quarterly newsletter (I’m a nerd, I know). There was an article that described how to properly set your mirrors to virtually eliminate any blind-spots. I did *not* know this was possible.

* Driver’s-side mirror: Lean your head against your (right side) window. Now move the mirror so that you barely see the right-side of your car. You shouldn’t use this mirror to view the car behind you, that’s what your rear-view mirror is for.

* Passenger-side mirror: Do the same with this mirror, only keep your head in the middle of the car when setting it (in line with the rear-view mirror). Move the left-side mirror out so that you barely see the left-side of your car.

* Rear-view mirror: They didn’t really explain this one, but test it out. There’s a way to set it so that you pretty much don’t have a blind spot (ie, you can see oncoming traffic from both your right and left side with either side mirrors or your rear-view mirror).

To think, I was always turning my head this way and that due to my large blind spots (I still do out of habit, but much less often).

[btw - I’d use public transportation, too, if it was convenient/available]

i would like spending some money on the said, inshaAllah (may be more to save our Muslim brethern from the tricks and traps of pervert preachers coz death is just another beginning but spiritual death !!!! is DEATH)

I forgot a lot of people, and for some people it was hard thinking up what they would be driving.  So I missed people like Barr, Ummwafi, Sophia, Attia, Br. Khalid, Uthaman, Nazia, Simply Sister, Moja, Zomorrud, Talibatul Ilm, and more.  Maybe some others can help out there.   Thanks for coming up with the Barrmobile.  But for others, like yourself and the Original it was a no brainer, definitely a VW Bug.  Definitely. :)

As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah,
I think Sophia is dropping a hint as well with her post in this thread.  Hmmm, ok, how about this, an infiniti I35.
Seriously, cars are not my thing (hint=public transportation). And despite everyone's preference, seriously, I've only spelled my name one way (hint=sofia).  :)

But coincidentally, I've been borrowing my Dad's Infiniti (can't remember the model, I just stopped calling it an Acura) for the past week, since my old (American) car just died on me, innalillahi wa inna ilayhi raje'oon. Wouldn't have chosen it for myself, but good call, Bhaloo.

In the market now (by necessity) for a low-maintenance foreign car, with nicks and scratches, and preferably not more intelligent than I am. If hybrids/electric cars were affordable, that's where I'd put my $.

And bro. Nomi brought up a good reminder.

Side comment: heard a news report a while back that tried to figure out why Americans are so into SUVs/larger cars (cars are generally a lot smaller in other places, no?). Statistically, they're usually more unsafe, less environmentally-friendly, more expensive, and most who have one don't necessarily have a "rugged" lifestyle (like a 1-2 person household in NYC, where most SUVs prob are). So like, what *is* it about them?

In interviewing people off the street, most professed their preference for one, but couldn't exactly pin-point why. Then a Eurupean psychologist got on and said he thought it was because they feel better "higher" up than others, menacing, almost.

salaams,

This is a scary post, when somebdoy gets an idea of what car you'd be driving then its seriously scary or you've spent toooo much time on the board.
Panjul - A Honda accord (that has a few dents from the trashcans she hit while learning to drive).  Abu Hamza - He would probably drive one as well because its a good reliable car and many desis have one or a Toyota Camry.

Madina Wrestler  and Bhaloo - A Hummer (H2).  This car says I'm big, bad, get out of my way.

Asim - I imagine the doctor gets around campus in a Toyota Corolla, quite popular in Pakistan.  I think Nomi would as well.
http://autos.msn.com/vip/singleyear.aspx?modelid=10328
In fact if you came to Dewsbury 90% of the cars are Japanese, fits in well with the Desis. However, I'd love a Hummer I even thought of getting one in the UK but then wifey did the rolling eyes at me and I thought better not in this life. Better stick to my Toyotta.

I then thought about Dude  since his so much into the outdoor life, I guess this model would suit him very much.

in case anyone was wonderring, i drive  Chevy 1/2 ton pickup.  I can't drive any of the sporty type stuff cause there isn't enouch headroom,  Even the hummer doesn't do all that well in the headroom catagory.  That is the 1st thing i have to look at in looking at cars.  SUV's  typically don't do well but for some reason the mini vans have plenty.  Also, the hummer,  why is it i never see any of them actualy off road.  For most cases my 2 wheel drive truck does just fine.

dont get me started on engines!!

cant afford a car here in singapore, wayyy tooo expensive, only the rich like Barr and UmmWafi can afford ;)

ill tell u wot my fav is and then move on to wot id like.

Porsche 911T is my all time fav, one of the most awesome ever, which turns into a beast when u start revving it. but thats only a dream.

for luxury, a mercedes S-class would be nice. Lexus RX 300 for SUV or BMW X5.

would love the BMW M series too, its both powerful and has the capacity to hold a family.

i cd go on and on but i better stop here.

and wot id really like right now would be a BMW 320 or an Alfa 156 Selespeed.

Sofia, my apologies on misspelling your name.  Wow, you drive a G35 and didn't even know it, it was voted car of the year.  I was reading the specs on it a few months back and its really impressive.  That car is fast, it has way too much power.  The reason why I like SUVs is because yeah, they are higher up off the ground, and one has the feeling that one is safer in them (the bigger the car, the safer it must be)

Barr, you went with a car named Matrix?  Why not one with an X-men in the name?   :D  I noticed the car was made by Hyundai, out here they have had some real quality and reliability problems, thats why I would stay away from one of those.

I do not think that it is a hoax site. Sajida first spoke to me about their car after seeing one that was on display in Colombo, and then I got their web site address from a friend in Dammam.

As for cars being a manly topic, I will have to object for I am obsessed with cars, especially classics. Plus, sorry to say that your question on the maybach just lets me rest my case!!!!! [ very very very evil grin] ha ha ha
oops sorry! not meaning to be this evil! heh heh heh heh ha ha ha ha

Ouch!  I'm sure there's a lot of cars I can think of that y'all haven't heard of.  :)    Anyone heard of a pinto wagon, nova, vector, shelby
By the way I drive a CRX [please get to know what that is :), if you don't, because you don't know anything  about cars if you don't know a CRX].
i actually drive a car from the same family.  :P  i drive a silver crv with dark tinted windows.

Yet, my favourite car is a Mini 1000, from the 80s preferably. For now I have models of this car at home. I guess models will have to do for now,

Hot wheel cars?  (the ones designed for ages 3 and up) ?

ha ha ha I guess it was SUPPOSED to be "way to go SISTER ELEANOR". But I was too busy laughing at you [cough] [ahm] mm I mean WITH you to notice.  ;D ;D ;D []

Pinto wagons - Fords foreshadowing of the present day minivan? Ugly as hell.
nova - Chevy nova??? Don’t know much about it. Interesting looking though...
Vector - W2, W8, MX3 spider and now the M12??? [cheeky? I know, but I'm NOT I repeat NOT related to Mr-Bean]
Shelby - Great cars. Very popular for racing.  Sports a FORD engine?

As for the Honda CRV. Thats decent. But for the ardent out doors person, the LandRover is the best. For the yuppy urban boys the new soft sleek SUVs will do, since their idea of off-roading is going over a pot-hole in Manhatten.  CRV is cool though. Not as curvy as most seen in the concrete jungles these days. WHich is a GOOD point.

As for model cars. If a 3 year old could assemble the ones I have, She/He would be a pretty smart 3 year old. If thats a dig at my maturity. Let me take a bough. Actually let me take another one. Thanks for the compliment !  [] For most 3 year olds I know are way way way cooler than most adults. So thanks old man.   [] [] ;)

hey what about me??? i would love to drive the new ford mustang that's due out this year - it's all silver and sleek and shiny *drool*

also according to my bro there's some new ferrari and you don't choose to buy it, the company decide whether or not you're worthy enough to have one (seriously u have to submit a c.v. to them and everything :o)

or how about the audi TT (sorry - i can only take one passenger :P)
