Clarification...
theOriginal

Judging by the amount of times I have posted during this work day, I have concluded a few things:

1) I have too much time on my hands..
2) I am not working to my full productive capacity, thus perpetuating the economic slowdown.
3) It's too hot.

Now, the real point of this post is.....

WHAT'S UP WITH THE HOMER QUOTES?

Thanks, I'm going to go drown in some books now.

Wasalaam.

[slm] all, well i was wanting to bring this topic up in a different way.

erm... could it be a sin!! (minor one even) that we sitting in our work places spend our time on the net (on this board) and not work to our full productive capacity and hence violate the employee-agreement and/or decieve our bosses ??

Asim Zafar
[i]PS: but there are some organizational rules that are nor fair, can we violate them?? and can we violate them even when we have signed the employee-agreement which includes all those details about giving FULL 8 hours to work per day?? [/i]

[slm] well Arshad bhai back at CresSoft they just wanted the tasks get done on time (task based) so it was upto the Software Engineers that how quick they can get done and play table tennis :) but in here they ask us to work for 8 hours a day no matter how early we complete our tasks. But thats not a big problem.

unfortunately in govt. departments some even work for 3-4 hours even when they are required to work more, eight? i dont know that whether they are asked to work eight hours or not coz i havn't worked in any govt. dept. yet.

one way or the other, my question remains that if our boss requires us to work for X number of hours per day and anyone of us no matter where we live (obvioulsy) work less than that and spend some time on internet... what would that be. A sin !?

Well I guess it depends. I mean does your boss really expect you to work every single minute? I remember when I used to work at the college we had to work a certain amount of hours but my boss even said feel free to check your email and stuff.  But when there was something else I could do I wouldnt hesitate or when there was some work I was up. I think if you do have work to do during that time then you should definately do it. Isnt this how an example of  a Muslim should be? As for it being a sin I would fear Allah (swt) that I might be decieving my boss. So again I believe it depends where and how much work, what the rules are, what your boss thinks ect.

May Allah (swt) help us all follow the character of Prophet [saw] in being a good employee and simply a good human being.
