Note to admin this is not to discuss the bombing, Al-Qaeda, Bin Laden or such. Its to re-awake the Muslims especially in the UK and make them more pro-active.  I think it may go in the Ummah folder but not sure.

Salaams, Allah be praised during the good times and bad times.

13th May 2003, will be a night to remember for operation enduring freedom has taken a new twist, four bombs were selectively detonated in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh by suicide bombers. The action no doubt was conducted by cowards, people who are ready to sacrifice innocent people to spread their evil views of hate on to others. Sadly, what is more worrying is the fallout from such an action. President Bush has already said that they will deliver 'American Justice pursuing a relentless hunt for those who committed this crime'. Has America taken on a new role as the worlds judge, jury and executioner ?. September 11th, delivered a fatal blow to the world community and the same tune will soon be ringing as the blood of American nationals has mixed with the blood of other nationalities.

The bombing of Riyadh was horrendous and all action should no doubt be taken to hunt the evil doers, the planners of this crime and their infrastructure should be destroyed before they cause the same evil acts again. It does not come as a surprise that an al Qaeda spokesman has told a Saudi-owned magazine that a new September 11-style attack lay ahead "The strike on America is definitely coming," Thabet bin Qais told al-Majalla. Whether this information is true or whether this is just another attempt to gain media attention leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of everyone, especially Muslims.

As whether the attacks now occur in Bali, New York, Riyadh or anywhere else, the finger will now always point first at the Muslims viewing them with suspicion. The problem with al Qaeda if it turns out that they were responsible for the 13th May bombing will be that they will cite its legality that it is within the confines of Islam to carry out such act. Basing their judgement no doubt on the American and British military presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, yet this new attack was launched on innocent civilians who possibly had no linkage to the military. This puts al Qaeda if responsible, on a dangerous playing field as no one is going to be spared just as 9/11, in their future operations be they Muslim or not.

This places Muslim organisations from the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), Muslim Public Affairs Committee (MPAC), Islamic Society of Britain (ISB) and even Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR) in a grave situation. For a start they need to duly respond to this attack. Secondly, a whole new education programme will need to be re-started soon citing that whatever terrorist actions take place in the coming days, weeks or months this will clearly not be in the name of peple who follow Islam a religion of peace.

What these organisations will be fully aware that after September 11th the world has become a lot smaller, national boundaries have all or less disappeared and the after shocks to the Muslim community can be felt far and wide. Whether new terrorist actions take place in the Mid East, Far East at London Heathrow, JFK Airport or in our local Western city. The response should be the same. Respond and become pro-active.

Aren't the Muslims of the world one community where the pain and sorrow caused should be felt by others ?. This attack should be no different and Muslims should effectively counter the imbalance that is going to fall out in the coming days.

Finally, this action has nothing to do with Islam as it has been said in the Noble Quran:

"...if anyone slays a human being, unless it be (in punishment) for murder or for spreading corruption on earth, it shall be as though he had slain all mankind; whereas, if anyone saves a life, it shall be as though he had saved the lives of all mankind". (Quran, Al-Ma'idah/32).

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, ' A believer remains within the scope of his religion as long as he does not kill another person illegally'.

Our sympathies, prayers and thoughts are with the families and friends of the deceased and injured.

There have also been threats made against Norway, of all places.  My husband has a chat pal in Norway so we are understandedly concerned.  And I have relatives in Sweden not too far from the Norway border.
