| [slm] [code]You may already know this, but this is kind of scary. Google has implemented a new feature where you can type someone's telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and then you can get a map to their house or business. Think about it--if a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can actually now look it up to find out where your child lives. Mapquest will actually put a star on your house on your street. You can remove yourself from their phone book (but not Information and Operator assistance at the phone company) and map detail program by clicking on the telephone icon next to you name and following the instructions. In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to www.google.com and type your phone number in the search bar with dashes (e.g.. 303-555-1212) and hit enter. If it comes up, MapQuest will give you the map with the star. NOTE: If your phone number is not publicly listed, you should be fine. To BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on the telephone icon next to your phone. You will see a link where you are allowed to REMOVE yourself (Takes 48 hours). | Is the google search the same as the yahoo people search or are they different? http://people.yahoo.com/ It appears that you can do a search for US addresses from the site above. Does anyone know a Samir living in VA...........mystic? |
