Dumping Physical Memory

Sometimes while working on the computer, I suddenly get this blue screen that has a bunch of numbers and symbols and says "Dumping Physical Memory".  It's really freaking me out!!  Then the computer freezes and I can't restart it or shut down unless I unplug it.  This has happened several times in the past few weeks.

Does anyone know what this means?  Is my computer gonna crash?!

What OS are you using?

I am assuming some sort of Windows varient, possibly Windows 2000 or XP?

Could be a number of things really, without going into too many details typically you get that error when the OS is attempting to access a portion of memory that is not available or has been allocated somewhere else.

What type of apps are you running when you get this error?

Thank you for your reply.

I have Windows 2000 and this problem occurs any time and all the time, but it's always when I'm connected to the internet.  Most of the time I'm not even running any other applications, it just seems to happen at random.

I think you might be having the problem due to some bad registers in your memory (the RAM may be bad). I had a similar problem as yours and it turned out to be a bad RAM chip. I would suggest replacing the RAM and seeing if that works, if not you can return the RAM and try out other solutions. HTH.

I also recommend you turn on parity checks in your BIOS. Is this an OEM box? E.g. Dell, Compaq (eww), Gateway (Moo moo) etc?
