i think it has something to do with other colors in the prism not being reflected back, besides there are no such things as colors, it is only what our eyes through the, is it cones or rods?, tells us they have color. I should go back to school this senility thing is killing me. |

[slm] ;-) All colors of light are scattered by molecules of gases composing the atmosphere. The amount of scattering depends on their wavelength. Blue and violet colors have the shortest wavelength (red the longest) so they are scattered the most. I think eyes are more sensitive to blue maybe, but something like that. For more details haul your college physics textbook out of the storage :) |

Masha' Allah I didn't think too much about why..... however I did ponder over how we truly enjoy the warm sunshine of summer after the darker, colder, more restricting winter months..... alhamdullilah [wlm] |

[slm] Well what I heard about it is that it's limit of our sight anything which is beyound the range of our sight would be seen as blue. Allah Knows the Best ...... |

[slm] The reason we see different colors is because of their wavelengths. Red light, for example, has the longest wavelength. And violet light has the shortest wavelength... Anyhow, because of this, it gets scattered more than any other color. When it collides with molecules in the air, it gets scattered. Even though all colors are scattered, VIOLET is scattered the most. Blue is the next most scattered color, and the reason that we see BLUE rather than VIOLET is because our eyes are more sensitive to the blue than to the violet. On a clear day, when no other element is interfering with our vision of the sky.... we seeeee blueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (woohoo...) Now....how come as a kid, we always drew our clouds blue, and he sky was white? The clouds were always fluffly and blue. It's only like 6 years ago that I clued in. Wasalaam. SF (King of Trivia. [slm] wooo :o jazakallah khair for your replies :-* okay i'm satisfied with your answers :) physics, and wavelengths and molecules and yea :P
Now....how come as a kid, we always drew our clouds blue, and he sky was white? The clouds were always fluffly and blue.
My sky was always blue :-* and i always use to leave a big whiteness in between the sky and the ground :P
(King of Trivia. That's right.
Cos if we coloured the sky in blue we'd run out our magic markers/stub out our crayons! Oh, and Mike, it's the cones that see colour and the rods that see black and white. finally my degree comes in handy :) |

The blue color of the sky is the result of the diffraction of the sun's light. The sun's light is the colors of iris-rainbow.. The sun's light as it passes through the atmosphere is diffracted and it comes...it seems to us as blue color. BECAUSE OF THE SKY'S COLOR THE SEA SEEMS BLUE TOO.. :-* |

After i posted my reply i noticed that there is no color for the sea water in a trasparent glass . then i thought my estimation was wrong . I was stuck to find out where the color of the sea got its blue color . the following information sounds satisafctory to give me rest not to think deeply any more
BECAUSE OF THE SKY'S COLOR THE SEA SEEMS BLUE TOO
:-* :-* :-* sal |
