Assalamulaikum

There was a thread about suggestions for other activities that could be done in sister
halaqas but i can't seem to find it.

Does anyone else have any suggestions which could be conducted with teenage sisters to
make halaqahs more interesting.

I have had ideas about crafts/calligraphy but I don't know anyone who could teach us.

Any other ideas?

halaqa's are super fun :)  our halaqa is doing a little book club thing this summer in addition to our regular material we go over (Quran and hadith). We've decided to read "Islam Today" by Akbar S. Ahmed. It's good so far mashallah :)  and there are tons of great books out there that would make a good book to read as a group and discuss it as you go along.

Another idea would be just to every now and then have a little lunch where you just get together and talk and socialize  ;D those are fun and they help build those bonds of sisterhood!  :-)

Maybe you could go to lectures that are in the area together or do some community service together, or sponser an all girls party!  :-* :-*

inshallah i hope that helps!

When I was teenager (Looks like centuries ago .......:)) we used to have combined dinner. Everybody in the halaka was supposed to bring food for one person and give it to the host. Host used to serve all togather but was not supposed to disclose anyone who brought what. That was to protect prestige of all members since someone's food might be better than others or vice verca. Another interesting thing was all the members were supposed to tell one hadith about eating but were not  allowed to repeat the hadith which is already told. So we had to memorize a lot of hadiths.

So that way combined dinner used to circulate within all the members.
