Salaams,
Allah be praised during the good times and bad times and abundant blessings
be bestowed upon the prophet of Allah.

Al Queda, Mad Bearded Mullahs, Young Suicide Bombers, Death to Infidels that’s what 7 million viewers were subjected to on the 9th of June on prime time TV. Spooks a fictional drama based in Britain that highlights the role of the British Intelligence service i.e. MI5.

The episode broadcasted on Monday was based on where the MI5 has discovered that a suicide bomb is going to be triggered in the UK. In short, MI5 send in an undercover agent who is exposed and killed. Another agent offers his services to stop the attack taking place. During the course of the programme several points can be seen. The Bad Muslims i.e. have links with Al Queda and encourage suicide bombing and are seen as wearing traditional Islamic attire. The good guys trying to stop the mad mullahs are seen with trimmed beards and the latest Armani suits. The followers in the mosque again fall into two camps for and against the bombing.

The programme even though it was fiction can have a negative effect on the Muslim Community as some may assume that such practice is the norm in the UK mosques. The BBC's statement says that they have worked with Muslim groups to ensure that a fair view is presented and that the programme does not inspire hatred towards Muslims or Islam. What begs the question is what Muslim group was consulted and were they shown the final piece of the show or not. Another irony is the BBC website claims to have several links to Islam one such link is referred to as AnsweringIslam.org a Christian site that does not promote Islam in fact the opposite. Why is this? Another evil agenda on the BBC's part?

After we have let the BBC know our feelings about, the sick show and complained what can be the next step?.

First and foremost Muslims need to open the mosques up for the general public. During the course of the Finsbury Park incidents numerous non-Muslims and Muslims raised the question why are the mosques not open for the public? Is it because we all hold a deadly and dark secret or are just sheer too lazy to show the masses how prayers are being conducted, children being taught wholesome Islamic subjects not where we teach the young to strap on suicide bomb kits.
Each and every mosque in the UK should conduct this operation, no longer should there be any suspicions or mistrust placed upon our Islamic institutions by anyone in the community.  This is the biggest stumbling block for the Muslims. How can it be that the blessed Medina was open to all in fact history will tell you that prisoners who were brought to the mosque accepted Islam after being in the wonderful environment of the congregation. Look at us today we close our mosques even to our own kind. How much longer are we going to keep our doors closed? There really is no excuse whatsoever.

Secondly, Educate the people.
What does Islam say about suicide bombing? What does it say about killing innocents, is it allowed or not? Our men with beards evil terrorists waiting to unleash squads of young suicide bombers into public places?
Again this can be conducted via numerous ways, either by having an opening evening at the local mosque, community hall or local dawah centre. If the public is not coming to a mosque invest in Islamic literature for use at your local library, or prepare some literature for them. During the weekend and weekly shopping day set up an Islamic stall with pamphlets and information on local Islamic support groups. It’s surprising that in large Muslim communities that such a facility does not exist or is severely limited. Why?. Be approachable and talk to people, re-assure them what Islam is about. Again we don't have to go to nightclubs but let us start this activity within the confines of Islam.

Thirdly, we need to take account of the new technology that can help us in our Dawah in particular Information and Communications Technology. We have our over 600+ mosques in the UK and more are being established every year. Yet how come we are not connected to each other? How come our mosques remain unaware of upcoming issues and events? It is ludicrous that the Spooks alert generated only 1000 complaints, where were the rest of the Muslims. Census stats show that there are 2 million Muslims in Britain yet working out the percentage of 1000 people who responded out of 2 million Muslims is nothing short of shameful and a disgrace upon the Muslims. We ask Allah to forgive us.
One of the many ways that Mosques can be connected is by investing in resources for a wide area network or the minimum should be where every mosque is connected to the Internet and has the ability to send and receive email. A local support group to raise such alerts and programmes should also be set up. The technology is there and at a dirt price for usage, lets use it for the right reasons rather than the wrong ones.

Let us not forget the beautiful ayah of the Quran:

"Invite to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided" [TMQ An-Nahl:125]

Ask yourself what are YOU doing in this day and age, this life is a test and our time is fast running out before we stand trial in front of Allah, most high.
Forget everyone else, if we stand around for the next person to lead us out of these dark days its not going to happen. For too long the Muslim Community has been a victim of its own self by being lazy and pathetic. Its now up to people like yourself to make a stand, show people the true light of Islam by becoming intelligent talking with wisdom and understanding, or else we only have ourselves to blame for our negligence.

Salaams

Our Executive Committee will not let any information be posted or presented by any other Islamic organization except ISNA and the like.

They feel that it  means that they are supporting that masjid or center and do not want to take the risk.

:P

They won't even let us, the local Dawah center, advertise our programs or post  any information.
