| perhaps it would be an idea to have logical names for categories instead of "house of kobedi" etc it would be alot easier figuring out where to post messages and mean less effort for the moderators/hosts moving threads. as a web desigener and a host of a message board in the UK, simplicity is a good idea. |

| [slm] in case you haven't noticed, the Medina message board is supposed to represent a real city, with the members being its citizens. Therefore the forums are named after fictitious buildings. I think the little explanation under the title is sufficient for new people to find their way around. It would indeed be boring if all message boards were the same ;) |

| ok cool. it was only a suggestion. however the metaphor with a real city was lost on me. Admittedly i don't know Arabic. the friendly atmosphere isn't lost on me, which is good. The pre - requisite of knowing arabic terminology in order to navigate the site can make it a little clique. |

I didn't know a thing in Arabic when I first joined up (except maybe salam and the kalima). that's all part of the fun - trying to find out what things mean etc I had to laugh at your post "house of kabodi". | slm, most of the names are part english and part arabic... arablish... and most of the arabic are terms that are pretty generic ie.. souq, ummah, shahadah, minaret... if there's something that's not understandable just let us know inshallah.. |

| Reading this prompts me to ask what I have been wondering about for a long time. How come we do not have anything named for Africa and Asia??? For example, you have British Souq for the UK Madina residents and the Albanian Apartments for US Madinates (though not all of them are from NY). Is because we are so few and scattered continent wise??? E.g. M.F in Morocco, Shahida in South Africa, myself in Kenya! Hence that constitutes a minority with nothing much to offer and from a continent that is third world! And how come problems afflicting Muslims in the Middle East, Europe and America are more important than problems Muslims are facing in Africa. Just observations. Not meant to cause debate or bad blood. |

| [slm] A significant portion of the Madina is from England.. I would say over 150 members and they wanted to discuss their own issues and post their events.. So to make it easier there's a British souq. Albanyia is just my hometown thing.. it's not about the US, it's about the town i live in and other ppl that live there. I think it wouldn't be useful to create a new forum for only 3 people to discuss their issues.... even some people wanted a DC forum but there really isn't enough people. As muslims we are concerned about the whole world and this ummah is one body... maybe as someone from Africa you can educate us more on the problems occuring there just as we try to educate people and discuss among ourselves on what problems are going on among US Muslims. |
