The male-determining chromosome has seen its gene supply shrink from more than 1,000 genes when sex chromosomes first evolved, to what scientists once thought was only a handful of genes, a downward trend predicted to continue until the Y disappeared altogether." I thought this article was pretty interesting in light of some of the discussions that were going on (elsewhere on this board) about the high women:men ration towards the end of time. Although the article says that the rate of loss of the 'Y' chromosome is not as high as initially expected, just the fact that it is "shrinking" conforms to the fact that there maybe more females than males towards the end. I guess this is another Islamic fact corroborated by science. Wallahua'lam. [wlm] --Zahid |

| [slm] i saw this on the news subhanallah ... except the scientists said that the y chromosome may be totally out in a few billion years which means there will be no men... but alhumdulilah for us muslims... it states clearly in that quran that we were created in pairs so that we can get married etc inshallah :)...see how beautiful and upto date the quran is..the best source out there wasalam nouha:) |
