[wlm] Hmm yah but that doesn't mean much because by the time AMD's 64-bit CPU's mature they'll be able to do all that and more ;) Don't get me wrong, I used to be a Mac fanatic, but Apple has totally gone by the wayside. Hardware is waaaaaaaay too expensive to setup a decent system. For that kind of money I can setup a dual Opteron box. |

[slm] AMD has serious heating problems. My AMD 2200 heats up like an oven, even with 7 assorted cooling fans inside a spacious tower casing. AMD had its moments but looks like now its downhill all the way for the company. I think the most AMD can do is to play second fiddle to Intel. Additionally, the crummy old x86 ISA does not scale to 64 bits. Granted, it has been successfully dragged from 8 bits to 32 bits, but that's where it ends. And look at AMD's nomenclature, opteron. So umimaginative and uninspiring! I always disliked apple and its stupid looking imacs with clunky GUIs. But now with a BSD mach kernel at its heart and armed with a killer GUI, its basically utopia. Sure I can't afford it, but shouldn't we appreciate beauty when we witness it? |
