| If money and smarts were no issue -- then what profession what you want to be? If you say religious scholar -- then you should combine this with something else, as the greatest of muslim scholars where relgious scholars and much more? For me, there is no contest -- i would like to understand how the universe began, (although I am sure that the question of "why?" is beyond us and that that knowledge lies only with Allah). I wonder what you have to be to spend your life studying that? |

If money was not a problem, I would have no profession. This life is temporary; I would not like spending most of my time earning a living. One should have time for other activities that have benefit in this world and the next. |

| A ranch momma :o Yep you read that right. I was a single mom and know how hard it it to properly raise you children and make a living. My heart aches for such women. :'( I would buy a huge 1,000 or more acre ranch, have lots of min homes and cottages built on it :) Allow young women (with or without children) come live and be there rent, food and utility free while they go to school and learn the trade / career of their heart and choice. No pressures. :-* I think to many young (and older) women settle and take what they can get (in the way of getting married or being with family) cause they have no other way to do what they really want to. They feel stuck with no choices. Silveroses post about her friend being forced to marry and her education being with held by her parents. Now don't get me wrong I am not one for defiance. But to be forced to marry a man or have your family cut off education assistance >:( >:( Just makes me so mad and makes my heart hurt. This place would have it's own critters for food and milk, all would take their turns gardening and helping sit the children and do some canning and freezing, being able to pitch in and earn their keep without the pressure of basic needs till they are finished with their schooling. There would be a beautiful and wonderful day care there. Counseling, supportive, loving enviroment. This would be my profession, to be a professional ranch momma ;) My dream, goal and idea. |

| [slm] Well that's really good question. I have fantasized all of my life to do farming. Maybe I'll do that one day. Getting up early in the morning and go to feilds to work right after Fajr prayer. I think it's really romantic to work in countryside without pressure and supervision of your boss. No memos .... no warning letters ....... no termination letters ...... no transfer letters ...... no politics ..... I wish there is some working environment like that ....... :) I would also like to be a lawyer and help the needy who can't afford to buy justice. But more than anything else I'll like to work in my country as a first class citizen instead of working as foreigner or second class citizen in other countries. |

Want to be in a position to provide (in terms of financial assitance) education for Muslims...set up a bursury for Muslim students across the world...set up some sort of SYSTEM that WORKS. Maybe inshaAllah, if I get the chance, I'd like to do a PhD in Islamic Econ.... For now..I'll dream. Wasalaam. |

[/quote] Thats me bro but i don't really fantasize it, its just that I want to do things on my own (no timelines, no boss) and we’ve got quite some land to work on as well Alhamdolillah but at the moment we are renting it to other farmers. That said, an air conditioned office and a respectful job is a gr8 blessing of Allah but I’m cooking lots of things for a couple of months (thoughts) for starting my own business, most probably a ranch coz that may save me more time for the “deen”… or may be there is more “aafeyat” (ease) in a job ? | This question takes me back to all my dreams as a youth. At first I wanted to be an artist ( because it was my talent) then I wanted to be a veternarian (sp?...because I love animals, especially cats) then I dreamt of becoming a pediatrician ( Then I got married, had a baby, and completely changed my mind) So now...I still have a love for medicine but didn't want it to rule my life so I'm becoming an RN. The thing is I have a love for the sciences and one of my dreams ( and just a dream) is to get into forensic science. I think that is just so amazing! |

| Salaams, All my life I wanted to be a soldier, I used to read books about the SAS and other such skilled army professionals when I was young. I dreamed of remote and distant adventures and saving people from oppression and bringing justice. Yet sadly as time went on I got to realise that perhaps a career as a soldier would not be appropriate. | [slm] ahh i think I would probly get stuck in jail b/c I wont let the innocent in! yah I hate the fbi who barge into other peoples houses ect. what I mean is I want to be some type of undercover agent. That would be really fun/interesting also in a private organization, not a government one! If it was even in a government one that I would try to do justice, meaning I would be nice to the people and save them from being held for no reason 8) |
