Their plight is only compounded by the threats and effects of war. According to a UNICEF report about children in war, "Millions of them have been killed, disabled, orphaned, sexually exploited and abused, abducted and recruited as soldiers, uprooted from their homes, separated from their families, and faced with heightened risk of disease and malnutrition."
