Assalamu 'alaikum, I'll be going to a local community college for a semester or more beginning this coming fall. I want to start the MSA there, but the administrator of college has asked to provide 'reasons for need of MSA', which I really don't know what they are and how to explain them to her. So, brothers and sisters, please, help me out with this thing, and I am a bit short on time, so ur quick responses are appreaciated. Jazakumullahu khairan. Wassalamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah. |

| [slm] u should prolly check out msanational.org... i think they have a contract stating the purpose of an msa etc etc... one big purpose is to remove the stereotypes assoctiated with muslims... the administrator shouldnt be ignorant to say no*... also to make a big impact on the administration...make sure u have enough muslims to start an MSA...itll help inshallah wasalam nouha:) |

Checking out their webiste is a good idea. But i just wanted to add what I know from first hand experience. I was never asked such a question. I find that strange, but maybe i'm misunderstanding, perhaps she wants to know what MSA will be about? Tell her u want to creat a support organization for muslims students, where you will be able to pray, discuss Islam, and try to understand it better, and do community service. make msa open to everyone, even to non-muslims. No one can deny you your rights to have a peaceful organization. If you need to draw up a constitutin and need help. just ask me. i am good at that sort of stuff. |

| [slm] you should contact your MSA National Rep and get them to help you .. but i think the purpose of an MSA is to serve the Muslims in the College/ Univ. and at the same time help to clear up misconceptions about Islam to Non- Muslims .. I think that should be all you need to tell them... [slm] |
