"Whoever makes the Afterlife his concern, Allah will gather together his affairs, place contentment in his heart and the world will come to him despite his reluctance; whoever makes the world his concern, Allah will split-up his affairs, put poverty before him and nothing of this world will come to him except what Allah has written for him."

Suhaib reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said:

Strange are the ways of a believer for there is good in every affair of his and this is not the case with anyone else except in the case of a believer for if he has an occasion to feel delight, he thanks (God), thus there is a good for him in it, and if he gets into trouble and shows resignation (and endures it patiently), there is a good for him in it. Almighty Allah says,

"When a servant thinks of Me, I am near.
When he invokes Me, I am with him.
If he reflects on Me in secret, I reply in secret,
And if he acknowledges Me in an assembly,
I acknowledge him in a far superior assembly."

Allah Almighty says:

My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have imposed upon him.  And My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him.  When I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks.  Were he to ask (something) of Me, I would surely give it to him; and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it.

Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said, "On the Day of Resurrection the Believers will assemble and say, 'Let us ask somebody to intercede for us with our Lord.' So they will go to Adam and say, 'You are the father of all the people, and Allah created you with His Own Hands, and ordered the angels to prostrate to you, and taught you the names of all things; so please intercede for us with your Lord, so that He may relieve us from this place of ours.' Adam will say, 'I am not fit for this (i.e. intercession for you).' Then Adam will remember his sin and feel ashamed thereof. He will say, 'Go to Noah, for he was the first Apostle, Allah sent to the inhabitants of the earth.' They will go to him and Noah will say,
'I am not fit for this undertaking.' He will remember his appeal to his Lord to do what he had no knowledge of, then he will feel ashamed thereof and will say, 'Go to the Khalil--r-Rahman (i.e. Abraham).' They will go to him and he will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking. Go to Moses, the slave to whom Allah spoke (directly) and gave him the Torah .' So they will go to him and he will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking.' and he will mention (his) killing a person who was not a killer, and so he will feel ashamed thereof before his Lord, and he will say, 'Go to Jesus, Allah's Slave, His Apostle and Allah's Word and a Spirit coming from Him. Jesus will say, 'I am not fit for this undertaking, go to Muhammad the Slave of Allah whose past and future sins were forgiven by Allah.' So they will come to me and I will proceed till I will ask my Lord's Permission and I will be given permission. When I see my Lord, I will fall down in Prostration and He will let me remain in that state as long as He wishes and then I will be addressed.' (Muhammad!) Raise your head. Ask, and your request will be granted; say, and your saying will be listened to; intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.' I will raise my head and praise Allah with a saying (i.e. invocation) He will teach me, and then I will intercede. He will fix a limit for me (to intercede for) whom I will admit into Paradise. Then I will come back again to Allah, and when I see my Lord, the same thing will happen to me. And then I will intercede and Allah will fix a limit for me to intercede whom I will let into Paradise, then I will come back for the third time; and then I will come back for the fourth time, and will say, 'None remains in Hell but those whom the Quran has imprisoned (in Hell) and who have been destined to an eternal stay in Hell.' " (The compiler) Abu 'Abdullah said: 'But those whom the Qur'an has imprisoned in Hell,' refers to the Statement of Allah:

"They will dwell therein forever." (16.29)

Pretty sure everyone's heard at least this first one, but just to show some contrast.

(Riyad-us-Saliheen) 1884. `Abdullah bin Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "I know of the last of the inhabitants of the Hell to be taken out from there and the last one to enter Jannah. He is a man who will come out of the Fire, crawling on all fours. Allah, the Rubb of glory and honour will say to him: `Go and enter Jannah.' He will go to it and think that it is full up. He will then come back and say: `O my Rubb, it is full up.' Allah  will say to him: `Go and enter Jannah.' He will again go to it and think that it is full up. So he will turn back. Allah will again say: `Go and enter Jannah. For you have what is equal to ten times the world.' He will say: `Are You making fun of me while You are the King?'' At this I (i.e., the narrator) saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) laugh till his premolars were visible and he said, "Such man will be the last dweller of Jannah in its lowest rank.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

(Muslim) Book 1, Number 0415:
Nu'man b. Bashir reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Verily the least suffering for the inhabitants of Fire would be for him who would have two shoes and two laces of Fire (on his feet), and with these would boil his brain as boils the cooking vessel, and he would think that he would not see anyone in a more grievous torment than him, whereas he would be in the least torment.

Hadith - Bukhari 1:28, Narrated Ibn 'Abbas  (ra)

The Prophet  [saw] said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you."

Lessons Deduced

1. The hadith warns against envy whether it is directed to religious or worldly benefit.
2. Envy is an abominable act prohibited by the prophet (peace be upon).
3. Envy abolishes good deeds as fire destroys dry plants.[/font][/size]

These would both be from Muslim.

Book 1, Number 0164:
It Is narrated on the authority of Abdullah b. Mas'ud that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him), observed: He who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride shall not enter Paradise. A person (amongst his hearers) said: Verily a person loves that his dress should be fine, and his shoes should be fine. He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: Verily, Allah is Graceful and He loves Grace. Pride is disdaining the truth (out of self-conceit) and contempt for the people.

Book 1, Number 0165:
It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: None shall enter the Fire (of Hell) who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of Iman and none shall enter Paradise who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) who
reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) had
said:

"For those people who assemble in one of Allah's Houses (mosques)
reciting the Book of Allah and teaching it to each others, there
will descend upon them the tranquillity and mercy will cover them and the
angels will flock around them and Allah mentions them in the
presence of those near Him."
(Reported by Muslim)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------

Lessons deduced:
1. The Hadith emphasizes the merit of mosques.
2. The Hadith pinpoints the excellence of assembling in mosques for
reciting the Qur'an.
3. Muslim should seek the blessing of Allah in good places and
times.

In the name of Allaah the most beneficent the most merciful

On the authority of Sayyid ibn Musayyib, who heard from Abdurrahman ibn Samura ibn Jundab (RAA), who said that the Prophet  [saw] came out one day towards them. "We were in Madina, and he stood up and said, 'I have seen wonders last night.'":
"I have seen a man from my ummah, and the angel of death came to take his soul, and his kindness towards his parents came and pushed the angel of death away from him"

"I saw a man, from my ummah, whom the punishment of the grave took over him. Then his wudu came and freed him from the punishment"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, whom the devils overwhelmed him, then the remembrance of Allah (dthirk) came to him and pushed the devils away from him"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, who was losing his breath due to extreme thirst. Everytime he came close to a pool, he is turned away, then his fasting Ramadhan came to him gave him to drink, which quenched his thirst"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, whom I had seen the prophets sitting down in circles, that, if he were to come near to one (of the circles), he was turned away. Then his ghusl from jannaba took him by the hand and put him next to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, who in front of him was darkness from all directions (behind, on the sides, below, above, etc.), and he was confused. Then his performing Hajj and Umrah came along and took him from the darkness and put him in 'nur'"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, with his hand avoiding the heat and spark of Hellfire, then his charity came along and became a barrier between him and the 'nar'. Also, this charity shaded his head"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, trying to talk to the believers, but they do not speak to him. Then his enjoining the ties of kinship came along and said, 'Oh, Muslims, he was fullfilling the ties of kinship, so talk to him.' So, the believers starting talking to him and shook hands with him, and he shook hands with them"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, whom the angels of Hellfire (az-Zabannya) overwhelmed him. His enjoining the good and forbidding the evil came along and freed him from their hands and put him with the angels of mercy"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, kneeling on his knees, and between him and Allah (SWT), there is a veil. Then his good manners ('husna khoolq') came and took him by his hand and put him in the company of Allah (SWT)"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, whose book went to his left hand. Then his fear of Allah came along and took his book from his left hand and put it in his right hand"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, whose scale was light. Then his young children, who passed away during their youth, came and made his scale heavy"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, standing on the edge of Hellfire. Then his hopes in Allah (SWT) freed him from that, and he proceeded away from Hellfire"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, who went to Hellfire. Then his tear from crying out of the fear of Allah and freed him from that"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, standing on 'Sirat' (over Hellfire), shaking like a leaf that shakes during a severe storm. Then his 'husna dhan' in Allah (thinking good in Allah) came along and calmed his fear down, so he proceeded"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, crawling on his stomach over 'Sirat', and sometimes he was crawling, in this fashion, and sometimes he was hanging. Then his salat on the Prophet (SAW) came along, and helped him to stand up on his feet, and saved him"

"I saw a man, of my ummah, who was at the gates of Jannah, but the gates closed before him. Then his shahaada ('la ilaha illah') came along and opened the gates for him and put him in Jannah"

It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that the Holy Prophet (May peace be upon him) said:

Beware. Every one of you is a shepherd and every one is answerable with regard to his flock. The Caliph is a shepherd over the people and shall be questioned about his subjects (as to how he conducted their affairs). A man is a guardian over the members of his family and shall be questioned about them (as to how he looked after their physical and moral well-being). A woman is a guardian over the household of her husband and his children and shall be questioned about them (as to how she managed the household and brought up the children). A slave is a guardian over the property of his master and shall be questioned about it (as to how he safeguarded his trust). Beware, every one of you is a guardian and every one of you shall be questioned with regard to his trust.

[Muslim] Bk. 20, # 4496

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons deduced

1. Every member of the Muslim society has certain responsibilities incumbent upon him. He bears responsibility of himself as well as for those who have a connection with him.

2. The wife is responsible for taking care of her husband’s household in all respects.

3. Husbands and wives are partners in this life and each of them should assume their responsibility towards one another

He said: I am going to visit a brother in this village. He said: Is it that you have done something for him for which you seek repayment? He said: No, it is just that I love him for Allaah's sake. Okay.... ((updated)).. Subhan Allah

Narrated AbuHurayrah:

Allah's Apostle (peace_be_upon_him) said: Don't nurse grudge and don't bid him out for raising the price and don't nurse aversion or enmity and don't enter into a transaction when the others have entered into that transaction and be as fellow-brothers and servants of Allah.

A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He neither oppresses him nor humiliates him nor looks down upon him. The piety is here, (and while saying so) he pointed towards his chest thrice. It is a serious evil for a Muslim that he should look down upon his brother Muslim. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for his brother in faith; his blood, his wealth and his honor.

Allah's Apostle (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said,

Verily, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious,
will say on the Day of Resurrection:

O son of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me.

Son of Adam will say:
O my Lord, how could I visit Thee when Thou art the Lord of the worlds?

There upon Allah will say:
Didn't you know that a certain servant of Mine was sick
but you did not visit him, and were you not aware that if you had visited him, you would have found Me by him?

The Lord will again say:
O son of Adam, I asked you for food but you did not feed Me.

Son of Adam will say:

There upon Allah will say:
Didn't you know that a certain servant of Mine asked you for food

The Lord will again say:
O son of Adam, I asked you for something to drink but you did not provide Me with any.

Son of Adam will say:
My Lord, how could I provide Thee with something to drink

Abu Hurairah (ra) narrates that the Prophet (saw) said:

"There is a group of Allaah's angels who move about the streets searching for the people who mention Allaah (swt). When they find a group doing that, they call each other, "Here is what you are looking for." Then they cover that group with their wings right up to the sky.
When these angels return to the heavens, their Lord asks them, although He knows the answer, "What were My Servants saying?"
They say, "They were describing Your holiness and greatness, and were busy praising and glorifying You."
Allaah (swt) then asks, "Have they seen Me?" The angels reply, "By Allaah! They have not seen You."
Allaah (swt) says, "What would they have done if they could see me?" The angels reply, "They would then be even more busy in their worship, glorification, and praise."
Then Allaah (swt) asks, "What did they want from Me?" The angels reply, "They asked You for Jannah (Heaven)."
Allaah (swt) says, "Have they seen it?" They answer, "No, by You! They have not seen it."
Allah (swt) says, "What would they have done if they had seen it?" The angels answer, "Had they seen it, they would desire it more eagerly, and would work harder to deserve it."
Then Allaah (swt) asks, "From what thing did they want Me to protect them?" The angels answer, "They wanted to be protected from Hell."
Allaah (st) says, "Have they seen it?" They answer, "No, by You! They have not seen it."
Allaah (swt) says, "What would they have done if they had seen it?" The angels answer, "Had they seen it, they would have feared it and run from it even more."
Then Allaah (swt) says, "Be My witnesses: I have forgiven them!"
One of the angels then says, "But among them was a person who is not one of them. He had simply come for something he needed."
Allaah (swt) says, "I have forgiven him too, just because he happened to sit with them. Anyone who sits with those people will not be a loser."

On the authority of Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhaniyy (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

The Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) led the morning prayer for us at al-Hudaybiyah following rainfall during the night. When the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) finished, he faced the people and said to them: Do you know what your Lord has said? They said: Allah and his Messenger know best. He said: This morning one of my servants became a believer in Me and one a disbeliever. As for him who said: We have been given rain by virtue of Allah and His mercy, that one is a believer in Me, a disbeliever in the stars (2); and as for him who said: We have been given rain by such-and-such a star, that one is a disbeliever in Me, a believer in the stars.

(2) The pre-Islamic Arabs believed that rain was brought about by the movement of stars. This Hadith draws attention to the fact that whatever be the direct cause of such natural phenomena as rain, it is Allah the Almighty who is the Disposer of all things.
