I've made my choice

:) I've made the decision to become a muslim. It feels so right, like nothing else. I'm a little nervous, though. I have been searching for several months and I know it is the right way. I had gone to church two weeks ago after not being there for quite a few weeks, and it just didn't seem right to me anymore, and I was kind of sad actually, it felt like there was an empty place inside me and maybe it sounds weird, but it felt wrong too. I woke up this morning and could just feel that today was right, and that I need to do it, and not to put if off any longer.

Salaams,

Allah be praised. Excellant Sis, I'm so happy for you that words can not describe seriously. You know even if you've had a really tiring and stressful day and you read a post like yours its like wow, stress is gone and so is tiredness.

If you need any help then I'm sure the sisters and brothers would be able to help you. Welcome to the family, my Sister in Islam.

Ahh.... Sister Missy, I don’t know whether to  :-* or to  :'(
(& this makes two I've almost read back to back today.... Masha' Allah)
La Ilaha Illa Allah
I had gone to church two weeks ago after not being there for quite a few weeks, and it just didn't seem right to me anymore
… I can relate to that feeling.
It feels so right, like nothing else
….  I can relate w/that one too… Masha’ Allah… there was a peace that came over my heart after conversion that’s kind of indescribable.  A contentment… Subhan Allah.
I'm a little nervous
… I’ve found everyday each new experience under the understanding & practice of Islam has reconfirmed that assurance & faith.  Its Ironic how just last night I was thinking:

My very first profession was (in my heart):
Ash hadu alla ilaha illa Allah, wa Ash hadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah

& how daily it has strengthened to (inside my heart):
“”Ash hadu alla ilaha illa Allah, wa Ash hadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah””

The few hesitations/fears I had @ the time, have been removed/answered… Alhamdu lillah

Thank-you for sharing your reversion/conversion with us…Jazak Allahu Khairan

[wlm]

PS  ;) Those dreams/angels still wake me up for ‘fajr’ on occasion.. (No Joke/ 'Allah (swt) as my witness') .

Dearest Sister Missy.

Wow! You are one of the brave, one of the choosen.  Your life has just begun over and you will have many questions from now on.  Just remember that we are always here.

Make sure you meet some Muslims that will teach you how to pray and introduce you to the Muslim Community. Take advantage of the knowledge of all the Muslims. The reverts will be able to offer you support and the born Muslims will offer you much help.

One tiny piece of advice. If someone says something that you percieve as negative, keep in mind that  Muslims do not neccesarily represent Islam.  Don't let stuff fester. Check with other Muslims.
And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah
(stretches out for you),
and be not divided among yourselves;
and remember with gratitude Allah's favour on you;
for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love,
so that by His Grace, ye became brethren;
and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire,
and He saved you from it.
Thus doth Allah make His Signs clear to you:
That ye may be guided.

Congratulations!! Mabrook!! Wow it's all happening here at Al-Manar!!  :-*

Alhamdulillah you have made this decision. I remember during my learning process I went to the church and I was amazed at all the pomp and ceremony for nothing. I had never noticed it before, but I was glad I wasn't a part of it anymore. I remember everytime the priest was saying "You are the Lord.. the most High Jesus Christ..." I was going "no he's not" under my breath.  ;D
Give thanks to Allah that he has opened your eyes and that you are not destined to remain amongst the blind.

Quote from the Matrix "why are my eyes hurting?"..."you've never used them before"

As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu/Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings, Missy!

You've made a choice that literally erases all previous sins and keeps all of your good deeds, subhan'Allah (God is above all imperfections).

I was waiting for this post (not that I wasn't waiting for Cara's or anyone else's, mashaa'Allah)!

May God keep you all steadfast and safe from harm, aameen.
The only advice I have is to surround yourself with good company, with those who you can learn from (which unfortunately, doesn't include every Muslim out there). May want to check out the local masjids (try www.islamicfinder.com). Insha'Allah, you'll meet up with some good sisters who are local (not that we won't be here to help you).

A du'aa/supplication Prophet Muhammad (S) used to teach new Muslims:

Allahum-magh fir-lee      O Allah, forgive me
war-Hamnee            And have mercy on me
wah-dinee            And guide me
wa-Aafinee            And preserve my health/well-being
war-zuqnee            And provide for me.

Ameen

[slm] sis,

that's so great! congrats! U know, I have to ask if this board is the place to come to when u want to declare that u've become Muslim   ;D.  Subhan'Allaah there's so many ppl who are coming to Islaam.

if u run into any difficulties, please be patient and place all your trust in Allaah.  Come on here too and insha'Allaah we'll all try and give u the support, encouragement and reassurance u may need.

Let us know how u get on, and, if u choose to tell other ppl, how they react.  I hope all works out for u insha'Allaah.  Thanks for telling us . :-X (I too was waiting for this  :))

wa'saalam sis and welcome to the faith (big hug)

Thank you all so much for your kind words and offers of support. It means a lot, and I really do appreciate it. I feel so happy right now, I have to tell my fiance tonight, I know he'll be very happy about it. I need to learn how to do the prayers too, I actually have found a book, it's called the Muslim Prayer Book, (I forget who th author is) has anyone heard of it and if so is it helpful? It looks like it would be. And to pray, I need to cover my hair, correct? I just feel so good about everything right now. I never felt this way before, I can't describe it.  :-* I know there is something I was wondering about earlier today while at work, and now I can't think of it. But when I do, I'll ask about it.

Subhanallah what a wonderful choice you have made!!!  This is the second reversion I have read about today on the Madinat and it is such a wonderful thing!!!

There is lots to learn and experience and I hope you will share and ask all your questions here.  I just reverted last August so I am still a newbie  :).
But, it has been the most wonderful experience!!

salam sister,

may Allah guide and bless you...

some advice i always give reverts is just to go slow and take one thing at a time... and stick with an imam or knowledgable person in your community that you know that you can go ask questions to instead of listening to the whole world.  cause sometimes everything is overwhelming and u'll get fatwas left and right and will want to jump into everything... but relax and go slow.. very slow... learn and implement things at your own pace.. and remember islam is lifelong, nothing is black and white and no one is a perfect muslim from the day they are born...and in this case the day they say the shahada :)

If you haven't already, do visit:

It is a website geared towards new converts, especially sisters. They have a forum (yahoo email list) especially for new Muslimahs. I think it will be beneficial for you to join that inshAllah.

Masha'Allah! Congratulations sister !:-*  You have brought back many memories.  I remember going to church before I reverted.  I had not been there in a long time and I couldn't wait to get out of there.  I did not feel anything.

Insha'Allah you will be truly blessed in your new life.
