Uhm, what else... I play basketball and I'm alwayz feelin that underground rap (you know, where all the Islamic rappin is!  ;D) and I can rep tat myself!

Oh, and my name is Chris but alotta my bradaz and sistaz callin me Ahmad instead, so tha's all good too.

[slm] WhiteSomali or Ahmad,

I am curious though, why do you call yourself WhiteSomali???  And for the record, Somali people from Somalia are referred to as Somali (Single)Somalis (Plural) and not Somalian or Somalians.

Shukran.

Because I'm white, and my parents are white, BUT all the people I chill wit say I'm not white, I muss be African or maybe Jamaican :-/  So then this gal decided that since I'm always wit Somali peoplez, my new country is Somalia. I know that's messed up, I know.  ;D You might think it's slightly stupid unless you're under the age of 25 lol

But it's just the way we talk up here. Maybe we're Canadianized  ??? n I'm not talkin about people that have never heard of Somalia, the Somali people say Somalian too. We're just whack :D

I don't think you are stupid, especially since I have a 16 year old son too.

Yeah, to call it Somalian is Canadizing it.  I am a Somali too.

It is also wonderful to have young people on the board, hence welcome and enjoy yourself.

Welcome WS and enjoy.  You'er story, probably embarassed about it, so we understand and won't ask in details.  Just glad you found your way back and at such a good age too.  However, your dialect is quite fascinatin' since I had a hard time tryin' to make ow da words.  (not mocking-just playing).

When my cousin told me that I was phat at a wedding one day, I nearly smacked him upside the head.  And answered with "He*l ya' or he*l no" everytime I asked a question.  He's strayed, I know.  He's older then you by about a few years, I was wondering what advice you could give to help me help him.

I mean, he's a good boy.  He defends his religion, but I know he doesn't pray unless he's nagged to death to and I know he's been with a few girls.  I don't know know about the other stuff, I've tried talking some sense into him.  Guilt trip and all, but I'm at a lost now.  It's like he's going to do what he wants to do.  The thing is, he said, he's doing it only for now and will change in the future (mature).  I don't know.  I don't think he understands the concept of death.

Advice if you could, please?  ANyone?

Jazakhulaah (km)

Ma-asalaama.

as salaamu alaykum,

just a correction:

the rap mix was NOT written and produced by the MYO .. it is a mix of raps from many groups (not from OT) .. the majority of the tracks belong to a group called Statesman ..

:D My bad, I try fix it lol...
For yah cousin... I used to be like that too. Then it got instilled in me that we have no idea when we gon die... I mean, the roof could fall in on me right now and boom, tha's it... So the question to aks yaself is "Am I confident that if I don't live to see tomorrow, I'll have enough good deeds accompying me to my grave?" There's no time to wait, cuz, ya neva know, right...

Remind him that on the Day of Judgement the first first first thing we'll be accounted for is our prayers, and if our prayers aren't satisfactory then none of the other good deeds matter. Get him prayin five times a day first, tha's the mos important thing fo sho, then your cousin can just gradually ease into the piousness  ;D

Studying the Deen is also an crazy way to increase piety. Once yah cousin realizes how important all this stuff is, he'll feel so messed up when he misses an obligatory Salah, like I'm sure all ya'll here feel :) Of course many people don't want to dedicate the time to doing such thinz as studyin! laziness?  ??? I can be lazy myself tho so I won say nuffin  :D

Okay I tried really hard so you wouldn need an english to Ahmad dictionary for this post I hope you can read it lol... if you still can't i guess i better start tryin twice as hard in arabic school cuz i cant speak english  :-/

EDIT: Oh yea, also as sista se7en (i like ur name!) said, it really helps to get down wit the right people. When your friends are harassin you to pray as much as your parents you got it goin onnn!  ;D

Shukran for your advice all.  WS, you don't need to fix a thing.  I can translate your words just fine.  I was just playin.  I'm thinking that having me lecture him, my cousin, is just the same as his parents doing it except without the shouting.  He shows respect to the elders and he is very good with his neices/nephews.  His freinds are the same.  They're all good boys except they all don't have the concept of the death thing.

Well....I actually think they do.  Our Imam reminds us all the time and so do I.  Sometimes, I feel as if they don't really care or that they're too into this life.  Soemtimes, I think that when they marry young, like at 21 yrs old, they're making a big mistake.  Then again, I think maybe it will help them see their deen more.  I don't know.  Allahu Alim.

One more thing, it doesn't help that his older brothers are the same way.  Marriage did change them, a little bit.  Allahu Alim...

Ma-asalaama....
