[slm] brothers and sisters in Islam, Just wondering if anyone has the recipe to make rasgullahs, preferably not the one which uses paneer. I absolutely love it and want to try making at home. For those who dont know what a rasgullah is , it is an indian/pakistani delicacy, looks like white balls dipped in sugar syrup. If you get the sugar syrup just perfect(not too sweet, that is), this mithai is AWESOME!!!ooohh, yum yum yum! :-) JazakAllahu khairan and Allah Hafiz. |

[slm], If you go to some indian grocery store, you might find some ready made powder mix for it. I think its called 'Gits'. But I am not sure if they sell it for rasgullas or just gulab jamuns. |

[slm] i found this one on the internet, hope it helps Rasgulla Recipe Recipe type: Reduced fat and cholesterol Preparation time: 30 minute Ingredients;

1 liter low fat milk
1 Tbsp yogurt
2 tsp lime/lemon juice
1 tsp plain flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 tsp rose water
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Preparation 1] In a deep pan boil milk and add yogurt and lime juice. Stir well. Let it boil for 5 minutes. Paneer will separate out. Drain off all the water and wash with fresh water. Transfer the paneer in a cloth of about 1 foot size and twist it to drain out all the water. This is home made cheese (paneer). 2] Put the paneer in a bowl and knead with the palm of your hand to make it smooth and soft. Add the flour and baking soda and knead again. 3] Make small balls of paneers of about 1" size. keep aside covered with a cloth. 4] Dissolve the sugar in the water and boil it over gentle heat to make a syrup. 5] Put the balls in half of the syrup for 10-15 minutes over medium heat. When the balls float to the surface, remove from heat. 6] Drain and put the rasgullas in the remaining syrup with rose water mixed. Serve chilled. |
