Sister Kathy brought up an excellent point in the ‘Café’. Which brought to mind something that I thought to post. For those that have not been informed as of yet or should need/like the information on INS revisions as of late:

The INS (Immigration & Naturalization Service) underwent a transition on March 1 of this year to BCIS (now known as the Bureau of Citizenship & Immigration Services). This transition dismantled the INS as it was known & placed primary immigration services under the BCIS. A Bureau of the (newly formed) U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

They have been working on amending & reformatting procedures of all sorts. They appear to be trying to make online filing/updating fairly easy as well. I would urge all applicable to stay updated on the information & reforms as they become available & communicate well with the Bureau. Hopefully these efforts will be for the best interest of all & make procedures better than they have been noted for in the past...Insha Allah. ‘Time Shall Tell’

INS Transition to the Department of Homeland Security (original notification)
On November 25, 2002, the President signed the Homeland Security Act of 2002 into law. This law transfers INS functions to the new Department of Homeland Security. Immigration enforcement functions will be placed within the Directorate of Border and Transportation Security, and the immigration service functions will be placed into a separate Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services. Some INS functions will also report to the Under Secretary for Management and the Director of Shared Services. The INS will cease to exist on the date the last of its functions are transferred.
(they have now been transfered)

President Hails Passage of Homeland Security Department Legislation
Statement by the President

The United States Congress Has Taken An Historic and Bold Step forward to protect the American people by passing legislation to create the Department of Homeland Security. This landmark legislation, the most extensive reorganization of the Federal Government since the 1940s, will help our Nation meet the emerging threats of terrorism in the 21st Century.
This bill includes the major components of my proposal - providing for intelligence analysis and infrastructure protection, strengthening our borders, improving the use of science and technology to counter weapons of mass destruction, and creating a comprehensive response and recovery division.
I commend the employees who will move into this new department for their hard work and dedication to the war on terrorism. Setting up this new department will take time, but I know we will meet the challenge together.
I look forward to signing this important legislation.

Wow now that is what I call frightening  :o  The same people that are arresting Muslims left and right, harassing them, closing down legitimate businesses,
jailing innocent people with no trial or evidence now runs the INS !!!

May Allah protect us...

..... you can say that again Sister Jannah.

I fear as well (if fear is the proper term) the ringing of the expression ...."the mind of the enemy cannot be trusted"... how many times & in how many ways have we heard this?

I contemplate in my own way if these “War on Terrorism Acts" (all of them not just the ones stated above) as they have been implemented, are two fold in removing 'Human Rights' as we know them.  #1 Authority given to our government “under this war on terrorism” theme to presume anything & act upon it without proper evidence & accountability. As well as #2 their openness that the “Mind of the Enemy” as they have expressed it, which is the Middle East & anyone who may have any connections thereof. Cannot be trusted because, 'in their terms' they cannot comprehend the mind & even the most meek is capable of the most horrendous.

Oh it's a horrendous mess is what it all is.

I can still hear the last report that  'I heard of', a man taken in that was a citizen of the US.  What did they say in the report, "this is yet another example of how nobody can be trusted. How this man was leading a double life that even his community did not realize."
It does bother me how our media is used so much to prep the mindset of the American population on their behalf/or merely entertain (they do both), rather than distributing a much better, responsible, educational format for the benefit of society on a whole.  ((but I guess this may come down to .... that is what the population as a majority is supporting  ??? ... There's a few voices out there trying to raise the consciousness but they need to get stronger)). Well....  I may be getting a little opinionated now so I better cut this thought short  ;)

But yes indeed.. May Allah Protect us....
