Off the top of my head I can recall two things, that I heard from a venerated shakyh,  on how to determine your standing with Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

1). Ask yourself what rank does Allah have in your life? Is He the most important part of your life? Or is deen something that is less important than wordly things and affairs?

2) Check your concentration in the 3rd and 4th rakah in prayers that have 4-rakats. That is assuming you have some kushoo in the first two rakats. If you can reach kushoo in all 4 rakats then that is a sign of taqwa and being God-freaing and that means Allah is probably pleased with you.

Al-Bukhaari (3209) and Muslim (2637) narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When Allaah loves a person, He calls out to Jibreel: ‘Allaah loves So and so,’ so Jibreel loves him. Then Jibreel calls out to the people of heaven, ‘Allaah loves So and so, so love him.’ So the people of heaven love him and he finds acceptance on earth.”

“While as for those who accept guidance, He increases their guidance and bestows on them their piety” [47:17]

And so if you can't avoid Haraam things, and obstructed of doing good deeds, then you've got a problem.

Mashallah, I don't think you have a problem.  You obviously have a good sense of fikr (contemplation), which is a VERY good sign.  I mean how many people even think the way you do, whether Allah is pleased or displeased with them ?
As for your crying, the Prophet SAW said that there would be 7 categories of people whom Allah SWT would shade on the judgment day.  And one of those categories was someone who remembered Allah SWT in private and started crying.  Inshallah Allah SWT will shade you on the day of judgement.

I'm gonna be a bit harsh....

Sell your shoes, etc. whatever it is that you do not need since you have so many.  How many feet do you have to care for?  How many children less fortunate then you walk barefoot to carry a bucket of water 10 miles from their house across a rocky terrain full of sharp rocks.

The money you have, give it to charity then you'll feel a whole lot better and when you feel good about that then the rest follows.  Allahu ALim....

I give you credit though for feeling guilty.  Cause I read in a hadith once that if you feel no guilt in the bad things you know you did or do then that's when you have to worry about your Iman.  But by that time, you probably won't care anymore.

Take care lil' sister.

Ma-asalaama....
Sell your shoes, etc
I am willing to guess that if your community is anything like mine, there are alot of poor Muslims. Just take a look at the shoes on Jummah day.

Different cultures frown on wearing used clothing, but most Americans do not. Find a sister, like me and ask her if she knows anyone who could benefit from your shoes/ clothes.

I get requests all the time.

Masha-Allah sis. I'm so proud to hear you say that. It's a great thing to have a conscience! That in itself is a sign from Allah (swt) telling you where to draw the line. When we start to justify things and willingly blind ourselves to what's wrong that's when things start to get scary.

About buying too many shoes,... :D ( laughing cause I'm going through a shoe phase myself)...I really don't think it's a major problem. If Allah (swt) has blessed you and your family with alot of money, it's a sign of gratitude to spend it on the better things in life. Without forgetting the poor of course and without being careless. If you give zakat and sadaqa and you still have ALOT of pocket change, I say go for it. Spend with what Allah (swt) has blessed you with.

:o I checked your profile to see where you lived. I wanna go there!

Alhumdullillah, if this is true.  I am sure there are servants in all these rich homes!

Check with a teacher... they will direct you to the right source.  If, because of cultural reasons, you can not sell, give away the shoes... go the other route and donate money to Islamic organizations...

I run a dawah organization... and always need money... I am sure their are other worthy charities also.

[slm] li'l sister yuina

first let me welcome you in advance to Islamabad. I live here. then i will tell you some facts:
but there arent any poor ppl aroud
my relatives who visited me, went back & complained to others that Islamabad lives on the rest of the country, & it is so rich that they never found any poor person.

so next time ppl came to visit me, i took them to labor colonies, slums, & the like, rather than Faisal masjid & beautiful spots.

sis, there is no city in the world that does not have a poor section. The rich need the poor to build their mansions, & to give them services. who do you think works in the scorching sun to build apartment blocks & repair roads. Do you think that these laborers are rich? If they were, they would be resting in their ar-conditioned homes. but you do not know where & how they live?

who do your parents give Zakat to?

even if you cannot find poor persons, there are charities which give to the poor. or you could spend your money on dawah.

& you are coming to Pakistan. there is a lot of poverty here, & it has increased.

so, little one, you may have a lilttle difficulty tracing the poor ones, but the effort spent in that will also be rewarded.

may Allah (swt) bless you & always guide you thru' the right path, & may HE grant you the best in both worlds.
