Muslim call to thwart capitalism

By Mark McCallum, In Granada, Spain

Muslims heralded the return of a mosque to Granada

An Islamic conference in the Spanish city of Granada has called on Muslims around the world to help bring about the end of the capitalist system.

The call came at a conference titled 'Islam in Europe' attended by about 2,000 Muslims.

Earlier this week Granada saw the first official opening of a mosque in Spain for more than 500 years.

The keynote speaker at the conference was Umar Ibrahim Vadillo, leader of the worldwide Muslim group known as Murabitun.

The group is strongly opposed to capitalism.

Mr Vadillo said America's economic interests had become the religion of the world and that people slavishly adjusted their lifestyles to suit the capitalist model.

But he said capitalism cannot sustain itself and is bound to collapse.

Disapproval of terror

Mr Vadillo, a Spanish Muslim, called on all followers of Islam to stop using western currencies such as the dollar, the pound and the euro and instead to return to the use of the gold dinar.

He said the introduction of the gold dinar to the world's economies would be the single most unifying event for Muslims in the modern era.

Shortly afterwards, he said, the capitalist structure would quickly fall and it would make the Wall Street crash of 1929 seem minor by comparison.

The conference also heard from Abu Bakr Rieger, a German Muslim.

He said Islam could only be practised in Europe in a traditional way, not in one adapted to European values and structures.

He also said private terrorism would find no approval among European Muslims.

This is about the only part of that article I agree with. I think people are getting way too caught up with material things in the west. Peoples' soul goal in life is to amass wealth. I dunno about the rest of the world.

I think someone musta skipped their breakfast  ::) AstaghfirAllah
It would take me a long time to point out all the huge faults of this crazy idea.

It seems Bra Umar Ibrahim Vadillo and Bra Abu Bakr Rieger would like to abandon all advancements made since 600 CE.

What faults do you have with this idea?  Why should the dollar or euro be the standard for everything?  Imagine if all the Muslim countries united, and they used one currency, the mulsim dollar, the gold dinar, or whatever you wanted to call it.

Subhana Allah the day that so called Muslim countries did unite to produce such a meaningful step in the socio political world, would be indeed the beginning of a new era for Muslims globally.

yet the chances of that happening are....

sad.

I once attended a seminar by Daud Musa Pidcock, the British economist, about this Gold DInar.

An extract from the seminar notes-

......And he also spoke about the recently held conference, 'Is Global Complementary Currency Compatible with Sharia'h'? The conference had answered this question positively. The aim of the conference was to study the possibilities of creating a global currency that was

interest-free

Technically efficient

politically realistic

globally convertible

And value of the new currency, pet-named terra, would be a mix of gold dinar, barrel of oil and other commodities. This would stop the currency traders from money speculation games.
