yeah I went.  It was really cool  :)

There was quite a large crowd who were really vocal! lol.  Some jews even turned up in their normal black gear, with pro-Palestine placards etc.  There was also another jewish group, dressed in blue for some reason, I guess they must be part of some organisation, and were singing songs in hebrew and waving palestinan and 'israeli' flags.

Sadly there weren't many Muslims, but there was a massive non-Msulim crowd, which was nice to see.  2 people got arrested because they actaully tried to storm into no.10!

Saw sharon, also saw jo(h?)n snow, ch4 news presenter.

Am glad I went alhumdulilah, was heartwarming to see so many people from different backgrounds, who were all demanding peace etc for the palestinians.

But security was awful, they began to stop anyone who they thought may be a danger  :(.  Saw one Muslim brother being roughly handled by an officer and all he was doing was walking down the street!  :(  Subhan'Allaah he was shocked but kept his cool.  All of a sudden he was surrounded by loads of officers.  He was really distressed and made a phone call to someone on his mobile, and then low and behold, another muslim bro was walking past, and the same officers jumped on him, while the other bro was still surrounded by officers.  Was really awful to watch, but after 5mins, the officers let them go.

But yep was really good overall, and apparently we got a mention in the independent newspaper. Lol, we weren't on tv, but if u listened carefully, you could actually hear a crowd chanting something, but not what they were saying. That was us! Lol. (I watched the 11pm news on digital, so I don't know what was shown earleir on in the evening on the news channels).

[wlm] sis,

thanks for the link, yep their accounts tells pretty much what happened.  I think the police just got out of control at certain points which was sad, there were some lil kids there who were really upset by their behaviour.  I don't know, maybe they think they have to act tough so as to stop things even before they begin, so no one can later blame them for not being firm enough to start with.  But sometimes they just make things worse, and then everything is always blamed on the activists/protestors/demonstraters.  The police never take responsibilty for provoking anything  :(

Sis, I know it must be hard to do much with a wee baby, but I've been to many marches etc, where people have brought along lil babies.  But I understand it must be hard.  Mum won't let my lil baby bro go to any, and because of the unnecessary aggressive behaviour of the police on monday, am glad my lil baby bro wasn't there with me.

wa'salaam  :)
