| [slm] A mother's worst nightmare. The approaching puberty of her child. The loss of innocence, of play, of a carefree life.... Yesterday, my just turned 9 year old son and I were sitting in the front seat of the car enjoying an ice cream, me chocolate... him watermelon. A teenager passed in front of us. She was well endowed. Even I, a woman, could not help but think :o I was sitting there wondering if Ali noticed. I was wondering when he would notice in the :o way. I was hoping he was still in the :) child like way. I was wondering when I would have to have my talk with him about lowering his gaze in the ;-) way. All of this was running thru my mind. He looked at me as if he had something to say... Then the question came.... "Mom, what is a woman's awrah....." :-) Baby steps... Alhumdullillah I got a sign I was still on the right path and teaching him to think for himself and to come to the right conclusions. :-[ Now... if only the next 5 years are so easy.... |

| [slm] Let me tell you I do not want to think about puberty. My daughter will be 9 in November and it scares me like nothing else. Being raised in a Kafr society really bites especially when there is so much influence. We try our best to keep her mind in Islam and Al-Hamdulillah, she's still young and insha-Allah, she will always keep coming to me with questions when one of her freinds (Muslim) tells her something stupid. The things they tell her just makes me want to beat them with a 4x4. But Al-Hamdulillah, the practice of coming to me to find out the correct answer and things is still going since she was able to speak. I'm so afraid for her. I make du'a everyday for her safety, well-being, etc. Insha-Allah our children will be steadfast in their deen. Ameen. I know what you're going through. Ma-asalaama..... |
