asalamualaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatahu I am teaching 12-13 yr old girls insh'allah. They want to learn about: 1. Hijab/jewelry/makeup 2. Signs of the Day of Judgement. 3. dealing with the opposite gender. what is allowed/not allowed. 4. how to act as muslim in school 5. movies/tv 6. sports for girls So if anyone can provide the basics of this info and what Islam says about it I would appreciate it. Any other advice is appreciated. jazak Allahu kair your sister |

Wa'alaikum Assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, May Allah reward u for ur efforts sister and make it easy for u, and may Allah benefit those kids from this knowledge (Ameen). Here is a website that I like a lot. It not only has a whole lot of links to other websites, but it also has different opinions on many different issues: [url]www.islamworld.net[/url] Just a question: Did u select those topics on ur own or was it the school administration that selected those topics? Wassalam. |

[slm] I am kind of surprised you asked us this. Your posts have always shown you to be knowledgeable. What are you really asking? My guess is that you already know the basics to these questions. If I am on the same wavelength as Bulwark... please be careful not to give too many classes to our precious girls, in which everything is no no no, you are not allowed, you can't do this... etc.... How about make them proud of being Muslim and how Islam protects them... or even about Prophet Muhammad [saw] and how he was with his wives, empower the girls! A while back I read a book on Muslim Women Warriors.... what a great bases for a syllabis. |

[slm], Just few pointers: 2. Try not to get too deep into this. Instead tell them about the Day of judgement itself, its horrors and what will happen etc. Try to make them think, "what preparation are they doing for it". This is just my thought on it. 3. Very important to deal with this topic. You might be surprised to know how much these kids already know. Parents should also talk about this to their kids, but most don't. Talk to them as a friend would. 4. Give them short reminders every week about how to act/behave like a muslim within school as well as when they leave school. Get a good book you can prepare from and follow. What Islam is All about by Yahya Emerick is a good one. Also Idiot's guide to understanding Islam. Wassalam |
