The more you learn . . .

[Disclaimer: I have a strong tendency to write in the abstract, I tried to control it, but as u'll notice it kind of peters out towards the end. But maybe, just maybe some of you will be able to muddle your way through it  and still be able to understand :) ]

. . . the more you find yourself in awe of all that surrounds us.

Last year I had to take a class on protein crystallography, it was difficult, it was painful and it was boring. I would have a hard time staying awake in class because the material was so dry and then find myself straining my mind for hours late at night over complex formulas, abstract theories, and diagrams - tons and tons of technical diagrams. I did manage to make my way through that course somehow and survived it none the worse for wear or so I thought at the time. But whenever I would look back, all that knowledge felt so useless, I mean afterall the labs were chockful of instruments and computers that would do all of it for you, the complexity of the course had thrown me off, tangled my mind so that it refused the simplicity of it all, and left a bad taste in my mouth so to speak. I couldn't deal with the frustration and the inadequacy and so I ignored it, I buried it deep within. Until today,

'Verily, Allah loves those who fight in His Cause in rows (ranks) as if they were a solid structure.'
(61:4)

Those lines took me back, a long way back to the beginning. The basics of what I had learned, the simple truths upon which all those calculus formulas and abstract crystallography theories had been based upon. It felt good to see all of that in one line, and understand,

'To see a world in a grain of sand,
And heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour. '
(W.Blake)

Today that verse was my grain of sand and in it I saw the world into which over the last few years I had poured my energy, my hopes, my dreams. The frustrations, the stress, the doubts, the disappointment, the disenchantment - all of it - just seemed to melt away. Allowing me to feel a soft breeze wash over me, cleansing my soul, calming my heart and focusing my mind with the infinite wisdom and  beauty of the Divine.

:-*  Jazak Allahu Khairan Sister …… enjoying your post.... You made me smile.
You do realize abstract does leaves room for various interpretations & enjoyment right … Masha’ Allah.

Smile …… your statement brought to mind this verse Sister Aurora… Subhan Allah:

And We will make it easy for thee (to follow) the simple (Path). [87:8]

As well as bringing to mind this verse:

He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each (created) thing its form & nature, & further, gave (it) guidance." [20:50]

…. the simple basics of the vast complexity…. Masha’ Allah
