The Quest For Allah's Mercy
Prepared by Muhammad Alshareef
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was narrated that in the days that Musa - alayhis salam - wandered with Bani Israaeel in the desert a grizzly drought befell them. Together, they all raised their hands towards the heavens praying for the blessed rain. Then, to the astonishment of Musa - alayhis salam - and all those watching, the few clouds that scattered the sky vanished, the heat scorched down, and the drought intensified.

It was revealed to Musa that there was a sinner amongst Bani Israaeel that had disobeyed Allah for more than 40 years of his life. “Let him separate himself from the congregation,” Allah told Musa. “Only then shall I shower you all with rain.”

Musa - alayhis salam - called out to the throngs of humanity, “There is a person amongst us who has disobeyed Allah for 40 years. Let him separate himself from the congregation and only then shall we be rescued from the drought.” That man, waited, looking left and right, hoping that someone else would step forward…but no one did. Sweat poured from his brow and he knew he was the one.

If he stayed amongst the congregation all would die of thirst; yet, if he stepped forward he would be humiliated for all eternity.

He raised his hands with sincerity he had never known before, with humility he had never tasted, tears poured on both cheeks, “O Allah, have mercy on me! O Allah, hide my sins! O Allah, forgive me!”

As Musa - alayhis salam - and Bani Israaeel awaited for the sinner to step forward, the clouds hugged the sky and the rain poured. Musa - alayhis salam - asked Allah ta'aala, “O Allah, you blessed us with rain even though that sinner did not come forward.” And Allah ta'aala replied, “O Musa, it is for the repentance of that very person that I blessed all of Bani Israaeel with water.”

Musa, wanting to know who was this blessed man, asked, “Show him to me O Allah!” Allah ta'aala replied, “O Musa, I hid his sins for 40 years. Do you think that after his repentance I shall expose him?”

Assalamu 'alaikum,

SubhanAllah! When I finished reading it, I felt like I haven't read something like this in years. It was much needed. JazaakiAllah khair for sharing this sister. As to the authenticity thing, I doubt it would be unauthentic if its prepared by Muahmmad AlShareef. Allahu A'lam.

What's ur version of the narration chokoz? Please, share it with us.

Wassalam.

I do not remember the exact words of the narration that I heard, but like I said it is similar to the one above, if not the same. I would like to know the source of the article cause if I use the article amongst my friends &/or others, it would be nice to have a reference to turn back to if need be.

Subhan Allah….. Jazak Allahu Khairan Brothers

Sorry for my delayed reply here …  I miss Madina so much when I’m away.

Very sorry Chokoz.... If I am not mistaken, which I may very well be. I believe he stated this article was presented with Narration that Shaykh Ali Qarnee mentioned in his lecture: Hakadha Allamatnee Hayaatee.

Perhaps if that isn’t helpful he may be able to be contacted if indeed you appreciate his presentation & would like to have additional information regarding his resources & authenticity for additional circulation of his work… Subhan Allah.

May Allah (swt) reward Brother Alshareef  & his family greatly for his efforts, as may Allah (swt) have Mercy upon us all…  Ameen.

Brother & Ustaadh Muhammad Alshareef’s material truly is available throughout many sources. This specific article was an older mailing that he had circulated in 2000.  However, Brother Alshareef does have a website available for @ least some of his articles & khutbah in circulation (I believe this one would be listed there under his Articles Link): www.Khutbah.com

A couple additional resources for his material as well:

Center For Islamic Information & Education (purchasable material)
“Their Quote: Here you can purchase audio tapes of Islamic lectures by various prominent speakers”  Click For Link

Some Various Free Audio for Brother Alshareef is available here:Click For Link

I hope this may have been of some help. Very sorry that I could not offer more. But happy to find that the post was enjoyed… Subhan Allah…. I of course enjoy information from many directions. I personally enjoy how Brother AlShareef offers khutbah that is simplistic yet covering such deeply resonating issues.  Sabr Shukr (the worry stops here) is another of his works that really resonated for me.

It reminds me too how I am forever thankful in Dua’a as well for a sibling in Islam that once helped me so very much just by the pure mention of the word Sabr… @ the moment I needed to hear it…. Subhan Allah….May Allah (swt) reward them & make their way easier. & Easier for us all…. Ameen.

Jazak Allahu Khairan

Came across this. In addition to stories from Bani Israa'eel, wAllahu A'lim, this is also the general approach we should take for excerpts from the Torah, Psalms, Gospels; ie, previous books.

------------------------------

Shaykh al-Shanqeeti said:  It is known that the reports from the Children of Israel [the Jews], which are known as al-Israa'eeliyyaat, may be of three kinds:
1 - those which we have to believe in, which are those which are shown by the Qur'aan or the sound Sunnah to be true
2 - Those which we have to disbelieve in, which are those which are shown by the Qur'aan and Sunnah to be false.
3 - Those which we are permitted neither to believe nor disbelieve, which are those which are not proven in the Qur'aan or Sunnah to be either true or false.

From this definition we know that with regard to the stories which contradict the Qur'aan and saheeh Sunnah, which are in circulation among them now, claiming that they are from the revealed scriptures, we must reject them because they go against the texts of the sound Revelation which has not been distorted or altered [i.e., the Qur'aan]. And Allaah knows best.
