Um well - I once found a paper clip at the bottom of my drink glass. The manager gave me 15 *huge free choocolate chip and oatmeal cookies. I suggested taking paper clips of our own next time, but my mom over-ruled me.

hmph.

We were in Olive Garden a few months ago and a friend of mine and I ordered a tomato cheese pizza. When the waitress came to deliver it after quite a long wait, we were really hungry and literarly jumped for a slice. As soon as I brought it close to my mouth I smelled something weird. I am so glad I took a second look.....it had a pepporini topping!!!!  :P Now don't ask me how we missed that. It kind of looked innocent and like normal tomatoes and stuff....but I guess when you are hungry you miss the obvious! Never again will I eat before I think!   ::) The waiteress was nice enuff and didn't give us a weird look when we complained. The manager was nicer and took almost 20% off our bill (there were 10 of us), gave us free dessert and told us that another pizza would take only 20 more minutes. At that point we were really not that hungry any more!  :)

If you've just eatin....don't read the following post.

We had a non-Muslim Asian freind who owned a restaurant and had closed it down for a dinner with freinds.  So as the adults were chatting us kids went around and played.  I happened to stumble in the kitchen and walked around to see what was being prepared.  So of course loving food, I had to taste it all so I thought.

As I left the kitchen, I saw something creamy white on a table and was about to taste it when I saw something small and white wiggling in it.  Then there were more of them wiggling, I nearly fainted so I thought ok, that's not food and went off to play again.

Dinner came and they had vegetables with dip (white and creamy).  I picked up a celery and was about to dip when i recognized the sauce.  I lost my appetite cause all I could see were those wiggly things.  Mom dipped and was about to eat it like everyone else was.  I was like, did they not see those things.  They must've b/c it's all over the sauce.  Getting nausious (sp?) I almost let Mom eat it when I rudely slapped the carrot off her hand and yelled, DON'T EAT IT MOM!  Starteled everyone and mom of course was mad and embarrassed at the same time.

She asked, what was that?  I said, I saw some wiggly thingis in the sauce.  So everyone lookad in their sauce and finally saw those wiggly thingies.  The hostess was embarrassef and tried to play it off by saying, that's part of the dip.  And to prove it to us, she ate some.

I don't know what happened next b/c I went back outside to play after I told them about the sauce.  But the family made fun of me all the way home, laughing about it.

Til this day, I can't dip without looking at the sauce first.  I mean literally swirling it around to find any wiggly thingies.  Mom gets mad cause it looks like I'm playing with my food.

well I was chomping my way through a döner when I spotted a      fly reposing amongst the salad leaves. The owner wasn't very apologetic, just took it back and gave me a new one. Then again I'm not sure if he spoke english or german  ::)
My mother had to go to hospital once after eating a sandwich in a restaurant. She never noticed anything and went home and soon her throat was hurting, like something was caught in it. Then my brother came in and she realised she couldn't speak. So he got the doctor who said she had to go to hospital. Her throat was bleeding inside and was swollen.
In the hospital they said her throat had been cut on something sharp. The cut was very clean like it was cut with a blade or something.
she reckoned there must have been something in the sandwich but had no comeback since she never noticed anything while eating.
She has since returned to the restaurant and has eaten there loads of times, so she wasn't too put out apparently.

That's all I can think of for the moment.

Bro Nomi..that was nasty.but it happens..i doubt that there is any food establishment where vermin do not exist...non the less here is my story

a few co workers and I went for lunch one afternoon at an Indian restaurant in nyc..anyhow we had placed several orders of rice..we were enjoying our food and each others company when one of my fellow coworkers practically freaked out..seems that he was just about to put a spoonful of rice in his mouth when he noticed a fried cockroach...yuck..we all lost our apetites ...so we told the waiter guy about our find and showed it to him...the head waiter guy came over and said he'll give us fresh rice for free..but we didnt want any of it....they didnt give us a free meal..we still had to pay for the food except the rice...
needless to say..we have not eaten at that particular restaurant since..

guess it pays to bring your own lunch from home!
peace

Yeap.  She really ate some and said that if they didn’t want to eat those white wiggly thingies to just pick them out of the dip.  But she ate without making a face so…may be it was part of the dip.  NOT!!!

So Br Nomi, was the cockroach still alive when you let it slid out of your straw?   And how many sips did you swallow before you realized the maroon thing going up your straw?

Here’s another story.  This happened to me when I was young as well back in NY.  The family was having a BBQ in our backyard and mom made some fried chicken.  While Uncle was grilling, us kids sat and ate some chicken.  I ate a little bit and then left my food to go play.

When I came back, I ate some more chicken and rice.  When I was finished with the top, I flipped over the thigh (chicken) and found WHITE WIGGLY THINGIES all over the back of my chicken.  So I screamed b/c I they got on my fingers and ran into the kitchen and washed my mouth with water and dish soap and then gargled with dish soap then my cousin came from behind and slapped my back and asked, So how’d it taste?  She slapped so hard, I swallowed the dish soap and so I screamed and ran outside, “Mom! I‘ve just been poisoned.  We need to go to the Dr’s.  I swallowed some soap water.”

Of course we did not go since they were all too busy laughing at me, but I swear those white wiggly thingies follow me wherever I eat.  How fast does a fly hatch eggs or have larvae anyways?  I was only gone for an hour or so.

And how can the cook not know he was frying a cockroach with his rice?  That's just gross.

there was this one time when my mom, my sister and i were visiting at pakistan.  we have a house there in karachi, but we were taking a tour of the northern area of pakistan in that visit.  we were in a hotel room that was next to a waterfall.  i was about to eat an apple when i saw a little worm crawling out of the stem part of it.  i was pretty young and it was my first time to see such a thing so i started yelling.  my uncle, who lives in pakistan, took the apple from me, went outside, and threw it in the water.

just think, there have been so many occasions when we have seen the things in our food right before we are about to eat it.  there has to be some times when we dont see them, just eat it like its normal food, and never find out for the rest of our lives... :o

Apparantly, during your lifetime, you will eat 70 assorted spiders and bugs. I assume this figure goes up if you live in Pakistan. I like the hazelnut center ones, myself...
