| Would it be too much to hope for a Madina Photo Album where we can have pictures of the members??? If it is not too much to ask and the idea does not repulse anyone, i.e. I would like to put a face to all the names here. Kind of a Madina family photo album. Oh well, just wondering! AsalamAlayKum, Peace and e-Greetings be upon you... If we use the opensource 'Gallery' software, this can be done in a halal way.... http://Gallery.sourceforge.net I use it for so many albums, I've lost count! Specifically, each member can upload their photos into their own personal album. They can then 'ALLOW' exactly which other registered member get to see which specific photos, if any, via Gallery's easy to use Permissions System. If there's enough debate here that creates a demand for it, I'd be happy to host it. Otherwise, why not just Private Message Each other? Anyone wanna see how ugly I am? ..... heheheheh ..... |

| Wa Alaikum Salaam, HiMY. Private message is good by just imagine me asking every single person on this board to do that! NOOOOO.... Actually, your idea of the Gallery software is good because it allows privacy which is important to many people. My thoughts were along the lines of the gallery and not the open discussion board itself. But not everybody or most likely many people will not like the idea of posting their own photos for everybody to see. It was just a short in dark. Thank you. Halima |

| [slm] altho it would be cool to see what people would look like, I would have to say I think this may well be a bad idea, because it may end up that people begin to 'check each other out'. I honestly can think of more bad consequences than good ones if this photo album actually came into existence. wa'salaam |

Just send your pics to your friends on the board via IM or email, that wont hurt anyone. Bro Hanif, are you ready to face me then... Lets see if we look alike or not ;) |

| Asalamu alaikum Having a photo album, although brining people closer perhaps, is a fitnah with a lot of negative potential i think. Aside from many scholars saying pictures are haraam, or at least makruh,putting up the pictures of a bunch of girls can do serious damage to the beauty of modesty that this board has maintained. Brothers will be tempted to watch the sisters, all of the sudden, dynamics of friendships, intentions, etc. can be altered. Very often I find sisters in particular (not to generalize sorry, and its not their fault) are not aware of how brothers have to fight their nafs and find an islamic venue where the whole "looks" thing is not an issue. In a friendly way and with loving advice, I don't think Allah SWT and His Messenger SAW would approve of girls and guys putting up pics to become "more familiar". Maybe a sisters-only/brother's only with a password protection? |

| [slm] hmm...i don't know i got issues even with password protected sites, cuz peeps can still get in one way or another. i like the idea of just privately showing each other photos...i won't show my pic even to any sister on the board, i mean who knows if someone is registered as a sis it's really a sis??? (no offense sisters :) ) but you know what i mean? I personally am selective about who i show my pics to, its a nutty world, with lotsa weirdos out there :P and as women, we have to be extra careful in safeguarding ourselves and modesty. anywho, just me two cents ;) sowwy Halima, here have a bebzi instead [] sis, Maliha [wlm] |

I can remember thinking when I started here @ Madina that I truly felt a respect for the fact that this site did not allow personal photos. However, now that I have gotten to know so many members per the forum. I feel the same thing you expressed, because it feels like such a family here. & how it would make it even more ‘real ‘. It really would be nice to share. Some of us do not have the option of living in the same area or there about or may never have the option to travel to meet up together. So the idea is kind of nice on that token. However, there seems to be so many more downfalls. Just as Sister Mystic mentioned, this World is so polluted you cannot be sure who to trust sometimes. & How could it be implemented so that it was truly secure? That kind of sounds like an impossible endeavor? I don’t know, does anyone else feel that personalities alone give kind of a visual image? That seems weird but I feel like that? | Salaams, No way am I sharing my photo with anyone, and not even Nomi. One look at me and he'll think we are brothers or something, heck he'll wanna come over here in the UK. And who knows by mistake if he forwards it on to someone then I'll be in bother with my aspiring good looks.
