Salamou Ailakoum first to everyone here on the website. This is such a great site, I love to search through, and I do almost everyday.
I am glad I found this place, maybe some of you sisters can help me out with a something I am facing.
I am a young muslima 22yrs old...I have ahad such a happy life and all of sudden I feel so doomed. I think the reason is that I remember stuff from when I was a kid (14 and under), before I understood Islam, before I began to pray and read Qur'an. By stuff I mean sins....but ones that have been repentented for sincerely many times...and they are not even major!
I've tried everything that one can do in times of distress. I belive that I am good Muslimah and everything....but why do i keep feeling regret day in and day out. I went through this before with the same issue a few years ago and came out of it............I used to enjoy everything I have in life, I have so much to enjoy. what is a sister to do?? Please pray for me.........plz give advice sisters! :(

awwww sis, welcome aboard and May Allah lighten the weight of your heart (Amin) :-*

hmmm...it's tough, once we commit sins there is no taking back those moments of recklessness and heedlessness...we repent, we cry, we go back to Him and that in itself is a blessing.
It's okay to feel bad about your past, for a sincere repenter is one who always has tears in her eyes for a past she can not delete and a future that Allah only knows. As long as you channel that energy into concrete things...like:
a)more ibadah in general: fast more (mon and thurs), pray longer, wake up for night prayer..etc.
b)give more charity, it extinguishes sins like water on fire.
c) Always be in a state of istighfaar.
d)Be in a state of dhikr/remembrance for it provides the soul with the solace we need. sometimes these negative thoughts of despair actually stem from shaytaan. As ones struggling on the path, we are prime suspects for his devilish whispers. It's important you always seek refuge in Allah, and keep remembering Him for then there will no avenue for shaytaan to come in.

e) Look for other sisters in your community to connect with, and even virtually it helps knowing you are not alone. This is an awesome place too:)

Lastly, {{{{{{ Hugggssss}}}}}}, from a sister that is struggling too and "feels ya pain" :)

Sis,
Maliha :-)

You still have lots to enjoy Sis, but it's great that you don't forget Allah (SWT).  Remember Allah (SWT) is Merciful and so you should be the same to others as well as yourself.  Keep praying and making du'a.  Read the Qur'an and it's translation if you don't know Arabic (I know that helps me a great deal.)

Do lots of da'wa, etc.  A lot of us have done things we wish we could change if we had the chance, but those mistakes makes us human and makes us a better person when we learn the lesson.  Never forget your mistakes just don't contemplate on them.

Don't go looking for answers that we're forbidden for you to know else you will miss living a life that was supposedly yours.

Ma-asalaama....

I’m not sure right now what kind of words might help Sister Sunnah_ , so I’ll think about it a little before reposting if something comes to mind.  I have a really natural instinct to want to interject personal contemplation…. I could write you a book now … expressing just don’t give up … It’s merely a test … Allahu Alam & surely Allah (swt) has reminded us even through the beginning of each Surah that we find in the Qur’an, that he is indeed Beneficent & Merciful.

I believe sister Trustworthy hit on a very good point. I believe we should live it …. What is the expression? Not being able to see the Forest for the Trees.  We don’t want to do that to ourselves. & The only true vision we may ever have is only going to be bestowed through Allah (swt) himself... Allahu Alam.

I believe the best solace comes from being on our knees in Salat.  After this I would suppose looking into references of purification through trial ….. Hey…. Sister Mystic did a really great posting on the Purification of the Heart have you come across that? That was one thread I really enjoyed.  ((let me grab the link & come back to post it)).

Here we go: Sr Mystic: Purification of the Heart (Hamza Yusuf)  Click For Link To Thread

Welcome to Madina though ... We're definitely all struggling in the journey... May Allah (swt) hold you ever so close & make the way easier for us all .... Ameen
