The Oxford Street Intifada!

Why is it we allow them to fight against tanks, but make excuses for ourselves? Jihad is Fard on all of us.
To meet Marks and Spencer on Oxford St (Marble Arch end), Saturday August the 2nd, 12pm.

Come for a day of protest against leading corporate sponsors of the apartheid state of Israel. Direct actions to be taken against Marks and Spencer, Selfridges, stores selling Caterpillar clothing and other supporters of the Zionist regime. Come along, bring your friends, bring loud voices, bring your passion, Palestinian flags, placards, whistles and props. It is essential to spread the word to the British people about the reality of what Israel stands for and those who support it.

For once stand up for whats right. Come and take part in the Boycott jihad

On Saturday (2 August) I again headed down to Marble Arch M&S. Today a bigger picket had been planned. Not only where we picketing M&S but Selfridges and other big stores that sold Israeli goods or traded with Israel were targeted.

As I got to the store there was a big police presence! To be honest that did throw me but I ignored them. I was then briefed by FRFI on what was to be said if the police approached me or worse if they arrested me. (I was given a slip of paper with a duty solicitors details!- FRFI were well prepared and this put me at ease)

The turnout today was much better there were at least 50 people and FRFI had some tricks up their sleeves. They had managed to make a cardboard wall which represented the apartheid wall currently being built in Palestine. In front they placed two volunteers one dressed as an Israeli soldier the other an arrested Palestinian civilian. The image created, drew a lot of attention and many people were drawn to talk to us and find out what was going on. Again there was a mixed response we had Arabs ignoring the picket and casually walking into the store and we had many non-Muslims enquiring on what was going on. One Arab lady that I got talking to was particularly concerned. She said she was not aware of the stores links to M&S and would not go there again. She told me to keep up the good work and even made a donation.

After M&S we headed onto Selfridges. Somehow we managed to build a wall of people across one of the main entrances to the store and then the chanting began. It was fantastic even passers by on the street joined in and there was an electric buzz.

Again many more people wanted to find out what was going on. Curiosity always gets the better if us!

We then decided to head down to M&S at the other end of Oxford Street. This group boycotting Israeli goods had grown and with police escort we marched down oxford street chanting "1 2 3 4 Occupation no more…5 6 7 8 we don't want a Zionist state!"

When we got to the other M&S the police would not allow us to picket directly in front of the shop. So we had to carry on marching. The march ended up, ironically at Centre point outside the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).

The day was a roaring success and again I went home with a very positive feeling and felt I personally had achieved something.

COME AND JOIN MPAC AND OTHERS EVERY THUSDAY FROM 6.00 OUTSIDE MARKS & SPENCERS OXFORD STREET (MARBLE ARCH END). IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT THEN PLEASE FUND US AND HELP US TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

[slm] that was a good effort, sis

as a univ student in 1967, i started boycott of M&S, & speaking about Palestine & Zionism. I think we made a difference then. But when in 1973 the oil money started to pour in, i found the Arabs headed straight from the airport to M&S. Now we know that most of the Gulf petrodollars are funding the US economy, & indirectly the Israeli one.

But it is strange that this campaign has been going on for 36 years!

Has anyone a upto date list of all the companies that support Israel. In view of the multinational character of the commercial/ industrial enterprises today, we find that innocent companies are in fact owned by the Zionist entities. What is needed is a thorough research & product substitutes for those who want to boycott comprehensively.

In Pakistan, protests have forced MacDonalds to pack up & sell their outlets to the Laksons group. Coke & Pepsi have registered a decrease in sales, & new brands have come up. How independent of the Coke/ Pepsi giants are these remains to be discovered.
