| [slm] It is my believe that no muslim should be smoking cigarette! You ask me why?..... Well, I believe what led anyone to his very first stick of cigarette is nothing but that desire to imitate someone else action out of admiration.....that means take person being admired as a 'god', a deity! (it coud be a movie star, a politician, a musician, a footballer etc) and it could be peer group pressure (but why should a muslim be in the group of unislamic peers?). Definitely the first stick of cigarette is never pleaseant! But that love for the god/deity that you want to look like or the pressure of the peer group made you to continue until you become hooked! Now the doctors are saying smoking is suicidal and the Quran tells you not to commit suicide yet you persisted smoking destroying yourself, and people around you! What will you tell Allah that led you to your first stick of cigarette......... Think about it and stop smoking nooooow! |

Admirin an immitatin someone doesn mean you tek dem to be Allah! All Muslims admire Muhammad [saw] and (should) strive ta immitate him, but that doesn mean we be seein him as God. Anyway, the bess way I know of avoidin peer pressure (reason I'd think mos people smoke) is to have some self confidence kickin... and to kick it wit people that are true friends, and would actually encourage yuh NOT to smoke cuz, a duhh its bad fuh ya health ;D, and yuh wallet, and for Muslims its haram..
