[slm] Thought I would share. ******************************** An old Arab man lived alone in Idaho. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, Abdul, who used to help him, was being held by the FBI for aiding and abetting terrorists. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament. Dear Abdul, I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't able able to plant my potato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me. Your Dad, Mohammad. A few days later he received a letter from his son. Dear Dad, for heaven's sake, don't dig up that garden, that's where I buried the biological weapons. Love, Abdul. At 4a.m. the next morning, F.B.I. agents and local police showed up and dug up the entire area without finding any weapons. They apologized to the old man and left. That same day the old man received another letter from his son. Dear Dad, Go ahead and plant the potatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances. Love, Abdul. |

[slm] I hope no one stones me but I found that funny. S'all like, way to use your head bra ;D Think outside the box! :D I mean, it's not like it's making fun of Muslims or saying we're terrorists or anything, so I don't know why it should be offensive. Ya know, buss me up if I'm wrong tha's all good too ;D [slm] |

[slm]it brought me a smile after i had written my previous post :) humans can always figure out a way. Indian journalists were meeting their Pakistani counterparts during Zia's rule, & they expressed admiration for the Paki journalists, saying that they found them very courageous that despite the Martial Law, the Pakis were able to say whatever they wanted in such a way that Zia could not touch them. whereas the indians further lamented that they lacked this courage. as an example, they quoted their country's emergency laws under Indira Gandhi, which had stifled all expression of dissent. Then they asked where did the Pakis learn this. The Pakis just smiled & said they had been living under Martial Law for such a long time, they learnt how to express themselves with a finesse. Time we started learning how to subvert the Empire from within. |

[slm] i heard on an interview (with Minister Kader Asmal i think) that when Nelson Madela and the other Freedom fighters were imprisoned on Robin Island, they communicated with the magazines and books they were allowed to read...by circling or marking certain appropriate words :-) Alhumdulillah, our SPIRIT will always make a plan i suppose...we survivors!!! Insha Allah |

[slm] That's cool. Show's 'em for playing stupid games with us. One of my cousin's sponsor who is an Arab (I think from Idaho or Ohio) and is also a doctor fo some sort. But he spent a lot of his money giving it to charity organizations and this guys is very generous and kind and sweet. Appearantly, the FBI didn't like his generosity and he is still being detained. His charity organizations have not yet been proven to be linked with Al-Qeada, but they won't let him go. He was just giving too much money away for a charity that aided Muslims. He helped my cousin get off their feet. After finding out what happened to him, I started to contact my sponsor who is now missing. Still looking for him. Insha-Allah. Ma-asalaama... |
