Tawbah:Yearning for Your Merciful Rains of Tenderness

Ya Allah why is it so hard? The simplicity and purity of Your worship is carried out in the most beautiful and heart rending of ways by the rest of your creation. Morning birds compete with each other to sing the most beautiful of praises to You, not to be outdone the lake sighs the most wondrous of waves in sweet reflection of Your Grace, the ducks quake loudly proclaiming “Oh My Lord! Here I come!”. The skies gracefully cover your Heavens, bearing the subtlest changes of time patiently for all those who care to look. The mountains majestically greet the worshipers, passing clouds, and golden rays “Assalamu Alaykum ya Ibada Allah” (“Peace be unto you O’ slaves of Allah). Even the minutest of flies hover in the crispness of morning breaths with anticipation and excitement. Another day of worship has begun.
Your Majesty is overwhelming, your Rahma enough to crack the hardest of rocks into gushing springs of repentance. Oh the One to whom the whole universe adores in prostration, standing, sitting, and being allow this lowly qalb the Grace of being one of your grateful slaves.
Ya Allah, Ya Khaliq, Ya Rahman, Ya Raheem, oh to Whom belongs the most beautiful of names, why is it so hard for the children of Adam to echo what the rest of your creation effortlessly sings in praises and adoration?
Ya Allah why do we attach ourselves to illusions, shadows, and fleeting wisps of fantasies and hawaa? Why do we tangle ourselves in the yokes of fear, insecurities, and misplaced love, willingly, when we could simply be free in the midst of your Divine Splendor? Why do we hasten after the dying when the Forever living looms so largely in every space of our being?
Oh Merciful one, give us the maqam (station) of Tawakkul (reliance) that is so eloquently articulated by the gliding of birds in your seamless skies! Oh the One to Whom we are all returning grant us the beautiful death of withered leaves that dance in pure agony and ecstasy to your command, your praises the only song manifested on their dying lips. Oh Allah shroud our deaths with Mercy and a longing to bring us ever so close to You.
Oh Allah disengage our Quloob from the madness of this fleeting dunya, to come crawling back to You. To hasten to you with bleeding knees and thirsty souls begging to be quenched with your merciful rains of resuscitation and tenderness. Ya Allah give us the strength to survive the long nights of agony, the jahannam of our repentance, and bitter sweetest delight of finally coming back to You, crawling, dying, struggling for the one last chance to live...one last chance to taste the truest breath of life before we finally die.
Ya Allah let your most eloquent Wisdom seep into our souls like spring blossoming in the midst of the bitterest winter. Ya Allah quench the scorching deserts of our souls with your Merciful rains. Let our hearts be the blossoming lands that will nurture and tend to your creation, and gardens within.

Ya Allah don’t leave us prostrating on your empty shores.
The tide is out and we are left behind with a longing to be immersed in your deepest depths of Maghfirah and Mercy.
Ya Allah cleanse our hearts of all the fleeting idols, winds of desires, gloom of our sins, and stains of our bitter pasts. Ya Allah heal us from the gaping wounds our oppression has inflicted within. Ya Allah expand our constricted chests with the largess of Islam. Ya Raheem, Ya a’foo, Ya Basit, Ya Noor, illuminate the darkest matter of our Quloob with the penetrating light reserved for your chosen beings. Ya Ghafoor, dissipate the clouds that have veiled us from your Majestic Presence.
Ya Allah, Ya Kareem, Ya a’foo, Ya Raheem,
Irhamna Ya Arhama Rahimeen.
(Have Mercy on us O’ Most Merciful of those Who show Mercy)
(Amin)

As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah, Mystic -

Masha'Allah, there was an article written by a bro in prison, printed in the Al-Talib newsmagazine (UCLA MSA) a few years back with the same theme. Mankind is indeed forgetful of its duty to its Lord.

Do you mind if I forward this to someone? With your name/screen name on it, of course. :)
