Sunsets and the Devil

I was looking at the nature pictures of the retreat. As I came accross the sunset pictures I was thinking about a hadith...that I can not find. When the sun is setting I was taught somewhere to come inside and close the doors and windows. Does someone know where this hadith is?

While I was looking for the hadeeth, I came across this:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told us that the sun rises and sets between the two horns of a devil, at which time the kuffaar prostrate to it.
Kind of makes me look at sunsets and rises a bit different.

Any comments?

As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah, sis Kathy-

I've always wondered about stats on crimes during Ramadaan - if they decreased at all. But it makes sense about the night, since crimes are more prevalent then. Allahu A'lim. And there are tons of du'aa and adhkaar that the Prophet (saws) taught us for these specific times, as well as other times, so hope no one gets frightened by these ahaadith.  :)

Anyhow, let me know if you were thinking of something else:

"When the wings of the night (spread) or it is night, restrain your children (from going out), for the Satan is abroad at that time, and when a part of the night is passed, free them and shut the doors. making mention of God's name, for the Satan does not open a closed door. And tighten the mouths of waterskins and mention the name of Allah, cover your utensils and mention the name of Allah even though you should just put something on them, and extinguish your lamps." - Prophet Muhammad (Book 023, Number 4995, Muslim & Bukhaari)

"Do not let your animals and children go out when the sun sets until the first and the darkest part of the night is over, for the Satan is let loose with the sinking of the sun until the darkest part of the night is over." - Prophet Muhammad (Book 023, Number 4998, Muslim)

Ye, the reason we're not allowed to pray at sunrise, noon, or sunset, is because that's when the sun worshippers used to pray to the sun. It's in the Quran, 27:15-44  ;D I just finished reading that part the other day, so subhan Allah that you'd post about this  :)

Yes, those were the hadiths. Thank you! I need you to be living here next to me!

Subhannah Allah it is a mercy that the devils are locked up during this holy month!
