Assalum Alaikum Sisters ;D
I have only been a Muslim 4 2 months.I was just wondering if NE of the sisters had suggestions 4 what 2 do during the THAT time of the month. InshaAllah I know I can still make dua' and do dhikr but I stil feel like I have entirely 2 much time on my hands when I can't pray.  :( So InshaAllah the sisters could maybe share some of their experiences? :-[

I had read someplace that during that time of the month, when it is prayer time, a woman is recommended to do wudu (even though I know it is invalid but it is good habit)  and then for her to go sit where she normally performs prayer.  She can do dhikr at this time or even run thru the prayer in her head.   :-*

One can also listen to Quran tapes, or read a translation that has no arabic in it.  Also with the extra time, perhaps one can read some Islamic books or listen to lectures.   ;D

Just some recommendations sister!  InshaAllah they helped.   :-*

wassalam

Mabrook on your reversion :) :)  :-*

yeah one of my teachers suggested to make wudhu when the time of salah comes in put on the prayer clothes, skirts etc.. whatever u normally perform your salah in and do dhikr whilst sitting on the prayer rug facing ka'ba... One of the things it does is to keep you in the mode... and when u can pray it's easier..

wallahu a'lam :)

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah,

This question was asked to a shaykh at a retreat I attended recently, and he pointed out that aside from prayer and fasting, a sister can do *anything* else she wants to increase her spirituality during 'that' time.. she can perform dhikr, she can read Qur'an (there are some differences of opinion on whether she can hold an all-Arabic version of the Qur'an, but if you stick with an Arabic/English version, you should be okay), she can give in charity, she can go to the masjid for classes, she can read books, etc etc etc

the shaykh went on to say that this time may actually be a blessing for women.. because it is a time to renew your strength, energy and motivation towards Islam, and then, when you are able to pray again, you can return with a spiritual vengeance  8)

Sis Barr and Mystic can tell you more :)

take care

wasalaamu alaykum :-)

[wlm] warahmatullah :)

Hmm, I either have a memory of a gold fish.. or.. Mystic? wot inside joke? Me don't get it? What homework? I left homeworks and exams and projects like 3 years ago! Dont' give me nightmares, man :P

Anywho.. in addition to what Sis se7en, said.. alhamdulillah, maintaining one's wudu and keeping in zikr all the time, does wonders too, (during and after menses) mashaAllah. I know of this sister who started practising just that, and mashaAllah, she felt the changes and the closeness. Keep in toharah all the time, sis.. the purification of the limbs affects the purification of the soul for the heart to be in tranquility and solace.
the shaykh went on to say that this time may actually be a blessing for women.. because it is a time to renew your strength, energy and motivation towards Islam, and then, when you are able to pray again, you can return with a spiritual vengeance  8))
MashaAllah.. sometimes, with such limited time, one has with Allah in solah, the vigour to make good use of that limited time, and the longing and yearning for that time to come back.. is nothing short of Allah's mercy and blessing.

Take care, sis
