The Hiroshima Day Coalition urges all peace partisans and supporters to join in Toronto's traditional observance of HIROSHIMA DAY, on Wednesday, August 6th, 2003 5.30 to 9 p.m., at the PEACE GARDEN, City Hall Square Toronto. [img]http://www.august6th.tyo.ca/img0.gif [/img] Display tables, poster-making materials, etc., will be available. Come early to claim your table. Starting at 7 p.m. The observance will feature individual and group speakers, messages of support and commitment to a peaceful, nuclear-free World, a mayoral Proclamation; and music and singers including THE RAGING GRANNIES. At Sundown, illuminated lanterns will be launched on the Pool as a symbol of commitment to peace. ALBERT EINSTEIN, who spent the latter part of his life trying to educate humanity about its imminent danger, asserted: "THE DISCOVERY OF THE ATOM HAS CHANGED EVERYTHING SAVE OUR WAY OF THINKING, AND THUS WE DRIFT TOWARDS UNPARALLELED CATASTROPHE" Today the World is ever closer to the cliff's edge. Peace displays, messages, with individual and groups speakers will address the urgency of ridding the World of nuclear weapons, emphasizing the desire of the people of Canada and the World for peaceful solutions to conflict, and Canada's essential role as a leader for peace.
