The Muslim Youth...

Assalamu Alaikum,

I was told these figures by a brother a few days ago. The source is a sister who is doing her Psychology PhD about the psychology of Muslim youth.

Here goes...

Of the Muslim youth in north America...

~2-3% are *fully* adherent, struggling Muslims

~10-11% out-wordly declare that their parents may have been Muslim but that they are not

and the remaining ~80%...

They have split personality- one person at another at school/work, (and perhaps another in the community)

[Example given: the head of a youth organization in one city was the biggest druglord in his highschool]

This same brohther pointed out that knowing that you're a Muslim and being happy/comfortable/proud with that fact is a ni'ma (blessing) we are all guilty of overlooking... for look at all of those who lack this blessing and its effect on their life.

SubhaanAllaah... :(... just goes to show  how much work there is to be done... and how much we are in need of Allaah (swt)'s rahma.

The few weeks ago I was riding on a bus, and at that time I was in a state of low eemaan. I was sitting, reflecting about my state, my ingratitude, mentally creating a plan of action, when a brother came on the bus. I don't know what it was about him, but it was obvious that he was not a practicing Muslim. I cannot explain the feeling that overwhelmed me. My heart was crying: "brother; we need to change, you and I. If we only knew how much potential we had...how much of a difference we can make. The Muslim youth are the heart and soul, the energy, the pulse of this ummah. We *must* overcome the daily tide and bombardment of images, suggestion and dangerously attractive desires. Look at the history of this ummah, you will find it full of stories of single and groups of Muslim youth were fully developed, ever-conscious of their Lord. We can be the next Khalid ibn al-Waleed's, the next 'Aaishas..."

The youth are the future of this ummah... something needs to be done fast... lest the baton be dropped....

Make du'aa for me...

InshaaAllaah I'll see if I can get more information but basically the way I understood it was thatthese are some of the results from the research the sister did for her Phd. Wallaahu A'lam.

Upon reflection, this figure sounds pretty accurate. If you observe about 100 Muslim youth- not the youth you know only... but all youth who are born th Muslim families... from Egypt, Saudi, Somalia, Lebanon, Turkey, Afghanistan, African American, Kenya, Tunisian, Pakistan ...etc... you'll realize that around 80% of them have split personalities.

From Surah Al Baqarah......Bismilla Hir Rahmaan Nir Raheem....

3. Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;

4. And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.

5. They are on (true) guidance, from their Lord, and it is these who will prosper.

6. As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.

7. Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur).

8. Of the people there are some who say: "We believe in Allah and the Last Day;" but they do not (really) believe.

9. Fain would they deceive Allah and those who believe, but they only deceive themselves, and realise (it) not!

10. In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease: And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).

11. When it is said to them: "Make not mischief on the earth," they say: "Why, we only Want to make peace!"

12. Of a surety, they are the ones who make mischief, but they realise (it) not.

13. When it is said to them: "Believe as the others believe:" They say: "Shall we believe as the fools believe?" Nay, of a surety they are the fools, but they do not know.

14. When they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe;" but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say: "We are really with you: We (were) only jesting."

Insha Allah, may we all be guided to the straight path, Ameen.

does the definition of *fully* adherent mean those who are integrated (however little) in this interest economy
