| From: Fareena Alam <fareena_alam@yahoo.com> Subject: Need help with Sept 11 documentary Salaams I'm hoping you can help me with a UK Channel 4 documentary I am working on. The documentary will focus on New York Muslims who were directly or indirectly affected by the attacks on Sept 11. For example, Muslim firemen, policemen, ordinary civilians who helped save lives and ordinary Muslims who are on those two planes or working in the two towers. One example would be Salman Hamdani. Muslims are rarely seen as the 'victims' in the Sept 11 context. My intention is not to portray them as such. Instead, I believe these are unheard stories that add depth and context to understanding the events of Sept 11. We will fly the camera crew to New York in August. I will personally ensure confidentiality. Any requests to have faces blurred, etc. will be honored. This documentary can only go ahead if I find sufficient Muslim families who are willing to talk about the Sept 11 experiences, so if you can put me in touch with any, I would be most grateful.
