Stand by mode in start menu....help plz!!

Salaamualikum

Once a window showed up on my computer a few days ago when I started it and without even
reading it I clicked ok.
Ever since then there is no icon for "stand by" mode in the start-shutdown menu (restart
and shutdown, restart in ms-dos mode are still there).
Can someone tell me how to get that standby option back on my shutdown menu. Plzzzz

What OS?
Can you check whether ACPI is enabled, in the device manager?

Strange symptom, btw.

1- Go to Start Menu -> Run, type "regedit" minus the quotes and press the OK button. This is the Registry Editor.
2- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ System \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ VxD \ Vpowerd
3- Verify that the data value of the Flags value is greater than or equal to 200. If it is, modify the data value of the Flags value by subtracting 200 from the current value.
4- Set the SuspendFlag entry to 0 (if it is not already 0)

The suspend option disappears when the machine fails to resume 2 consecutive times. Resetting the registry values will bring the option back. It would be valuable to know exactly what is causing the machine to fail to resume.

Tell us if it works, i assume your machine is windows 98?
