| [slm] Have any sisters here had their nose pierced? anyone done it after 25 yrs of age? how was it done? with the gun? Did it hurt ?(doh ::))How long did it take to heal? :-* |

| I wanted to do it (I am over 35) but my adult sons kind of made a fuss (this was before I was re-married) and I chose not to out of respect for them as they thought at my age it was rediculous. :( I don't think so and have seen a few my age with it and I only was going to use a small post nothing attention getting but they said it would embarrass them ::) when they were with me so I didn't. |

| [slm] i had mine done when i was 26. they do not use a gun, as there is no back to the stud. i hope i dont scare you here, but they mark a place on your nose where the piercing will be, make sure you are ok with it, and then you lie down. (MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS STERILIZED IN AN AUTOCLAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) they use a round needle to pierce the nose, then they put in the stud, which stays in because the post is bend and they basically screw it in. the piercing itself did not hurt me that much. but my eyes did water since its that sensitive area. putting in the stud pinches a bit and then its over. my jaw (??? i guess because of the sinus/jaw connection) was a little sore about 1/2 hour later but i took some advil and was fine. it takes 6-8 weeks to heal completely so that you can take out the original stud and replace it with another color, type, etc. mine healed without any problems alhamdulillah but if you take your stud out and leave it out (even after the 6-8 weeks) it will start to heal quickly and close!! they should give you aftercare for the piercing and if you follow what it says, you should be in good shape!! just let me know if you have any more questions. |

| [slm] When I had gotten my nose pierced it didn't hurt at all. I totally thought it would, and I remember I had my eyes closed and was grasping my friend's hand. The lady that did the piercing did use a gun, and when she was done she told me; I was like, "what? ur done??" I hadnt even felt it! She had put in a verry small golden stud so it wasn't really really noticeable. However I know at a lot of places they do put in big studs--like those studs you'd get when u get ur ears pierced. Try to avoid that because those hurt more and are more hard to maintain. Two of my friends had those put in and both of their noses got infected and they just ended up taking them out. However I had gotten my nose pierced when I was 18... I had it done actually at a non-desi place and they did a good job. I dont remember how long it took to heal, but I do remember don't sleep on that side cuz that area is tender at first. And be vigilent with the antiseptic lotion they will give u to put around it. :-* Afterwards u can change the stud to whatever u like, but try to keep it gold or a sterling silver just in case ur nose is sensitive to weird materials. Personally I dont like the actual studs, cuz its weird to wear the bottom portion of the stud in ur nose and if u dont wear the bottom portion, the stud has a tendency to rise up. I like the hook type u can buy from desi jewelry stores. They are weird at first to put in, but work the best! Hope that helps! Good luck!! Wassalam |

| I know im posting late but im really bored and have some time on my hands. I got my nose pierced twice the first time i did it myself with a needle it didnt hurt that bad just all the pushing and stuff. anyways my nose ring fell out and i didnt feel like looking for it or buying another one so it closed up the second time i used a gun i dont know if your supposed to use a gun but it worked just fine and that didnt hurt either. I was in the store the other day and this person had their eyebrow, chin and tongue pierced and said they were scared about getting their nose pierced i just looked at them like huh?? are you okay? lol it didnt hurt much for me i guess it depends on how much pain you can handle. |

Did it hurt ?(doh ::))How long did it take to heal? :-*[/quote] i got my nose pierced in may. alhamdulillah, i didn't have any problems with it. :) it did hurt a bit when it actuallyl happened, and i won't lie, it hurts more then a 'pinch' like everyone says. ::) if you twist it and clean it with alcohol twice a day for about a week, you won't have any problems inshAllah. :) i got married in july. at the wedding my in laws gave me another nose ring to wear, it was too fat to go through my little bitty nose hole. :o my nose started bleeding - so they gave me a fake one for the time being. when i tried to put in my own nose ring on the next day, it wouldn't go in. :( and now it's closed. :'( but i'm going to get it repierced when i go back home, inshAllah!! :-X |

| Now everyone's talking about having their nose pierced..I'm going to go a little bit deeper and ask a few "interesting" questions" -what kind of nose do you need to get a nose ring?! :-* -what happens if you have a cold?? -my fiancé wanted me to ask this one: if you have a cold, does stuff come out of the hole?! LOL :P |

[slm] I had my nose pierced in...it was either june or july. I got mine done with a gun, it did hurt but the pain didn't last for ages. Alhamdullilah mine didn't get infected cause i used the medicine they gave for like the first 2 weeks, then i got lazy and stopped using it, ::) though you're meant to use it for a month. Andd the best thing is i got a real diamond stud for Eid, from my mum. awww I love my mum :-* wassalam |
