| Salam everyone, I know most of you probably don't remember me - haven't posted much in awhile. BUT that doesn't mean I haven't been reading posts! (or atleast a few of them! congrats to se7en and abu_hamza!! definitely read that one!! :) ) Anyways, recently the hubby and I have been seriously considering a move overseas--actually, right now we're only considering Dubai. So, seeing as this board has representatives from all over the globe, I was wondering if: a) anyone lives there and they can tell me how they like it b)anyone knows of companies there that we could apply to--preferably US/UK/Canada based companies... c)anyone has any contacts (job wise/community wise) that may be helpful to us Insha'Allah. | [slm] Well sister there is a lot to talk about Dubai, I mean there are a lot of good and bad things over here like any other society. If you are asking about working environment then you might be going to have tough time particularly if you compare it with working in West unless if you get job in any good multinational company. If you are US or UK qualified then it's easy to find good job over here. Following is a website which is actually collection of other companies' and agencies' websites in Gulf. www.gulfjobsites.com There is another very popular website called www.bayt.com you can also try it. You must be thinking of someone else. Sorry! BrKhalid! Impressive---you even remember my husband! BTW--we're still enjoying the rice cooker! hehe. br. Faisal, Thanks for the info. I'll check those sites out. Yeah, but basically, we're looking pretty much only at multinational companies. As for the kinds of jobs---my husband is a software developer and I am also in the IT field. Though I am willing to switch over to more or less anything. Thanks for the info! Salam, Nazia |

[/quote] Well all I.T. related jobs have good scope over here but at the same time the profession is getting highly competative since there are a lot of professionals from all over the world. In result of that salary structure for such jobs have gone down so don't expect the salaries what Gulf was known for. If you are ready to switch over to other kind of job then I'll recommend try in education sector that's the sector which laid behind in term of localization and still have a lot of job vacancies for foreign workers.
